Yep. They finally changed it back to the same format as the CWS.

Good stuff! Of course, at this time, we'd be in Texas's pool, so we'll have to beat either Green or Jungmann to avoid going to the loser's bracket.

Yes, I liked it that way so I could see OU play at least 3 games even if the last one meant nothing though it almost always did mean something. Plus, we knew the exact time schedule before the tournament started so I could plan accordingly.

I don't think that that is correct. If UT gets swept by aTm, their final conference record would be 17-10, or 62.3%. If we sweep Baylor, our final conference standings would be 16-9, or 60%.

The best that we can do is 3rd place.

Unfortunately, I think that it is a moot point. aTm will do good to gain a tie with Texas there in Austin, assuming that Texas wins two of the three.

They one thing SG does really well is motivate, but he has obviously struggled to find anything to get this team on a roll. He is just not getting through to the team. They don't look like they want it and that just isn't anything I have seen from an SG team late in the season.

thats how i feel, the season is far from over but this team has tendencies right now that are not good against good teams. Too many errors, too many strikouts at the plate, and a closer that just is not what he used to be.

Very true. Well said.... and it all adds up to lots of frustration. It's true that baseball is a game of inches... close plays when we were at bat = outs.

Just got back from the game. I am going to throw a few thoughts out there. First, the starting line-up was very interesting. Harrison as dh batting leadoff? Second, Rocha struggled finding the strike zone early on(moreso because the ump was terrible,IMO). Ksu's starter went seven innings deep, rocha didn't make it out of the second. Third, Bushyhead with the error was KILLER. You could see the team lose confidence after he made that mistake. Fourth, John pitched a gem in relief. I was proud of the way he kept ksus batters guessing. Fifth, they made key hits and we did not. Sixth, duke needs to put up or shut up. The kid has pitched poorly since the OSU series. Seventh, I was really hoping we would win two and host next weekend, but hosting now is very doubtful. Finally, I hope we find our swag before next weekend, or it is going to be a quick out and a very dissapointing end to this year.

Top 10 in the country, we may well still host a regional, and last time I checked we finished 2nd in the conf last year and made the WS. Is this team as good as last year, probably not. Can it still make a deep run? With the pitching we have, hell yea.

A&M is about to beat KSU.

When you look at the box score from today's game there were some encouraging stats. However, we are just struggling to score runs. We look like one of LC's teams. We get a bunch of singles and put men on base, but we struggle to get the across. It would be great to see Bue get hot tomorrow and carry it over into the regional. His average has just been on a downward spiral for about two months. We really need him, and one other guy, to start showing gap power. I am not sure anyone can show HR power with these bats consistently.

it would be nice but like hurricane said OU is mostly a single hitting team right now. OU just needs to get base runners on in front of Ogle and Seitzer and hope to continue to manufacture a run or two with the bottom of the order.

OU tried to get the hit and run game going today and it was not pretty, the batters whiffed on at least 3 attempts and left the runners out to dry. But than again i look at the scores late in these games and not many teams are scoring a lot of earned runs off the starters for the most part. The bat change in one year has been amazing to watch.

I texted a friend during the game with this: "Sunny Golloway: Killing big innings one bunt at a time." I truly believe that. You don't get big innings playing small ball very often. This team is built for big innings, BBCOR or not. They need 3 outs not 2. Small ball makes you play with two outs.

It will be interesting to see what Sunny does with Rocha. IF we make it to the finals on Sunday he would definitely be available to pitch. The question is do you throw him or save him for game 1 of the regional? There won't be anything NCAA tournament wise to gain by winning the Big 12. The regional hosts will have already been determined. So do you spend your ace for the Big 12 championship and risk not getting to him in the regional?

The only likely scenario I see where Rocha pitches this weekend would be on Saturday in an "if necessary" game with A&M.

There aren't many big innings in college baseball anymore unless the other team helps you out. Swinging and missing, hitting a 10 hopper to SS and loafing down the line, or popping out, which is what Buechele has been doing lately, isn't exactly going to put the pressure on the defense and lead to an error. I had hoped Buechele had broken out of his slump in Baylor but it appears his hands are still bothering him and we may not see the real Buechele the rest of the year. So I'm all for him doing whatever he can to help us win, including laying down a bunt and getting the runners into scoring position.

This team is NOT built for the big inning. We have one, maybe two guys with legitimate power. (Ogle and Buechele, (when he has two hands) The rest have gap power at best, and with these bats it's a stretch to say that.

Timely hitting and late inning pitching has been put at a premium this year, and quite frankly we've sucked at both. That's why we've lost seven games by one run.

If we're just 2-5 in those seven we're a lock to host a regional right now.

The K-State game was a microcosm of the entire season. Fall behind, come back, take the lead, then proceed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by not getting clutch hits and bringing Ryan Duke in.

It just seems like they are pressing too much..I think Joel Klatt nailed it in the pregame, that this team is not looking like its having much fun right now. All the grinding and failed expectations might be getting to some of the guys. Onto regionals maybe some magic can be found

I think the idiot did not know the situation in the game for starters, next, he had no clue where or who had the ball, and finally, it looks like he is staring down the third base line while Ogle is swiping the dish and throwing down to 1st base. Human error happens is sports officiating i get it, but this guy with his strike zone was horrible and seemed way in over his head tonight. Like i said earlier pray to not have him calling balls and strikes in a regional
