Word. A first-year coach has won the title ONCE in I-A (The term "FBS" is should be language filtered!) and he's already been fired for extreme incompetence from said program and I think we can safely assume that unless there are extraordinary circumstances, it will NOT happen again.

If OU doesn't make it to the title game, then Stanford would be my 2nd sentimental choice being the other red & white school I attended. I think Stanford may have been the best team at the conclusion of last season. Their loss to UO was closer than the score would indicate and they got better from the rest the way. No one would have wanted any part of them in a playoff situations and they would not have been pushed around by Auburn's Dline like UO was. But as others have said, the coach is gone and this will not be last years team - it ain't happening.

He has florida state beating us but losing to to NC state and russel wilson, who isn't planning on being with the team anymore....no cred

Actually, Coker was the second coach to do so.

Bennie Oosterbaan was the first with Michigan in 1948.

hmm...has OU losing to fsu (ranked 7th) and osu ranked 8th...osu losing to a/m ranked 14th and horns ranked 21st...but still has OU ranked below osu...

guy is an idiot...

honestly, I think we have the pieces to win the NC...prob a little better shot than most..but like every other college sport..the best team doesn't always win...

I could see OU going 12-0 to 10-2...should be a GREAT SEASON!!! so looking forward to it..

I did notice that 0% of people voted that Stanford should be #1.

Playing the seminoles early in the season is a plus for OU and a minus for FSU. Sooners also get a sa*et team with all new coordinators and still a QB controversy (at this point) so Oklahoma's chances of being in the title game are better than most.

Stanford's chances are bolstered by having a couple of otherwise serious contenders, SUC and tOSU, ineligible and hampered, respectively. The only real impediment to the color cardinal's season is Oregon.

Stanford doesn't have enough tools to win the national title. They did good last year, but they lost their #1 and #2 receivers along with a lot of their defense and the leader of the defense, Owen Marecic. Also, Houston in the top 25. His list doesn't make any sense.

The whole thing is a mess. A four-year-old could've come up with better teams thab that.
