Yes indeed. Ponca City was a town without pity. My dads older brothers beat those guys every day they saw them until the family relocated to Tonk and then SoCal.

My dad and mom brought one back from their trip to see my mom's folks in Louisiana. As a little kid, I soon learned to have some misgivings about Allie the "pet" Alligator, but I was still determined to give him an Oklahoma home.

I kept trying to pet Allie and teach him a few tricks, but all I got were bites on my fingers. I think my mom started to get disturbed that one of the bites would get infected and the realization began to set in that maybe I wasn't one of the brightest kids in the county.

I still changed his water everyday and feed him bacon that I stole from my mom's fridge. He seemed to really like bacon.

Anyway, one day when I was trying to get my second grade education, the dogs supposedly tipped over the big tub half full of water that was Allie's home but he probably still managed to escape to a nearby cattle pond.

Okay, that was my parent's cover story and I only started questioning it in high school. Mom used to try to scare me with the alligator living in the cattle pond and then it turned into a family joke. We will probably never hear the real truth about what happened to Allie.

I'm so sorry, Olevet, that someone ratted on you. That is just all kinds of wrong. Anybody could have snitched once that it was mentioned on this very public board that it is illegal. But, I can promise you that it weren't me.
