R.W. McQuarters Shot In The Back

ULSA, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma football great R.W. McQuarters was shot in the back Saturday afternoon in Tulsa, according to the Tulsa Police Department.

The former New York Giants cornerback was leaving a friend's house in the 1200 block of North Boston. When he got to his car, a man was standing by the vehicle.

As McQuarters started to drive away, the unidentified man fired three rounds. Police say McQuarters was struck once in the upper back.

No arrests have been made, police say.

R.W. McQuarters is a graduate of Tulsa's Booker T. Washington and Oklahoma State University. He earned a Super Bowl ring in 2008 while playing for the Giants.

His condition is not known at this time.

Went there in 93 and 94.... graduated from Rogers though. I just heard from some friends on Facebook, that he will be fine. Just got hit in the shoulder they say.

One thing I never understood about people who achieve success...is why you hang out in an environment that is potentially dangerous? Have your friends come to you, do not go messing around in the hood, where hate and jealousy is as natural as breathing.

DeMond and R.W. were best of friends in high school. We all hung out a lot until I had to transfer to Rogers because of grades. I talked to DP when he was at Green Bay, and me and his brother correspond often on Facebook. We still hold the state meet record for the 4X100; ran a 41.21. Whatever the case, a hater decided to squeeze on him. Tulsa is infested with haters and ill wishers.

Speak of the devil...I just friended Parker on Facebook thirty minutes ago. Demond and his brother use to give me rides to west tulsa after football practice. Never asked for anything in return. Good guys.

adoniijahsooner, My previous advise, is the same thing I would of told my son in any similar situation, No one is assuming or insinuating any thing.

I heard USA Today has story that says RW drove himself to the hospital and wasn't injured badly. I haven't looked it up myself but I hope that is true.

Both Tulsa and OKC seem to be turning into shooting galleries from the news I see and hear. It's too bad they are both great places. Those of you that live there need to do something about it.
