thought i would share this...
last saturday evening. my wife and i were waiting with many other excited people in a hanger at Fort Campbell, KY. we were waiting for our son to get off the plane, returning home from his 1 year deployment. the place was packed. there was electricity in the air. the announcement came, "ladies and gentlemen, cermony number xxxxx is 15 minutes from wheels down. everyone can now go outside and wait and watch for the soldiers to arrive and de-plane". of course we headed out the door. the plane landed. we were about 200 yards from the plane. at that distance all of them looked alike. hard to tell which one was which. i got in another position, closer to the path they were taking towards the hanger. i got close enough i could see their faces. searching and searching, i finally spotted my son. i shouted his name, he looked up and around but could not spot me. i shouted his name again. he looked around again. convinced he could hear me, but just couldnt find me in the crowd. i shouted, BOOMER!!!!! AND STARTED WAVING THE LITTLE AMERICAN FLAG THEY PROVIDED IN ONE HAND AND MY OU HAT IN THE OTHER. we made eye contact. the biggest grin ever came across his face. tears started flowing in mine.
this was a great moment!
i want to thank everyone on here who gave me and my son well wishes throughout this past year. it was very nice.
he told me that he got into some pretty bad scrapes. he said that he knew the only way he survived some of them was the fact that there were so many people back home praying for him and his platoon.
Thank you to everyone. Thank you to the 101st for the job well done.
AND THANK YOU GOD FOR BRINGING MY BOY BACK HOME!
