In honor of the draft, the Mr. Irrelevant trophy:

Mr. Irrelevant, or the final draft pick in the seven round of the NFL Draft, is presented the Lowsman Trophy (pictured above!), which depicts a player fumbling. The player also gets to go to Newport Beach, Calif. to play golf, speak publicly and bring his family!

2000 called and said the electoral college is still relevant.

Considering the Electoral College decides the Presidency and will continue to do so until a Constitutional amendment changes that, I'd say it's pretty relevant. It also shapes how candidates campaign.

the AP was part of the BCS through the 2003 season. So i think it could somewhat matter a little then... but since then, it's nothing.

I think the implication in this question is that it doesn't matter who is president.

What is the purpose of voting if the Electoral College, alone, can decide who is President?

The BCS is the obvious system in play but the AP is always around to make their claim no matter what.

the AP will still be around after the BCS is gone

and it's the popular vote that is irrelevant

uhhh electoral college is still very very very important. If it wasn't in place the way a political campaign is run would be COMPLETELY different.

Or, if you are implying the candidates are the same in the end, im with you on that one. But I don't think that was the point.

I don't see why we need an electoral college if we can accurately count the popular vote.

The electoral college system is extremely relevant. The actual vote itself is sort of like the final coach's poll. That vote / poll will fall in line based upon prior results.
