Went to the link, got the Venus shaving commercial, so it can't be too bad. Does anyone think the shaving disaster will affect their season (footballl)?

Mayor of Tuscy was just on TWC...said that the campus was damaged, but they haven't ascertained the amount because they are having trouble getting to portions of it. That doesn't sound too good. Also said that the damage path is a mile wide in places and that a large swath of the city has been leveled.

Thanks for the prayers and thoughts, everyone. I know you folks know all too well the damage and destruction that tornadoes can bring. 25 fatalities confirmed so far, and that number may go up. 15th street, which is a major thoroughfare in Tuscaloosa, was totally leveled around the university mall area.

Events like this remind us that life is just too short and to keep things in proper perspective.

My son lost everything in this storm.

Fortunately, he is fine physically.

Glad you guys are OK. Lost power in K-town at about 8 pm. Didn't come back on until long after the storms finally ended and I went to bed around 2. We got nothing like Tuscy and B'Ham, but we were under a tornado warning from noon until about 1 am. Got some big hail...my roof vents are trashed, my trees are stripped nekkid, my wife's car looks like a construction worker was pissed off at it, and my grill cover is in tatters. But all in all we came through really well.

My heart goes out to those folks in Bama.

Just for reference, here is a radar shot of the 5/3/99 Moore tornado:

https://www.baronservices.com/media_center/history/images/OKC-shear-SCIT.jpg

And here is the one from yesterday as it exited Tuscaloosa:

As expected, as the damage assessment gets underway the death toll continues to climb. The statewide death count has now ballooned to 131, and helicopter reviews show a swath of damage from this thing all the way from Tuscaloosa to north of Birmingham.

Again, thanks again to all your well wishes and if you care to contribute or help out, you can text REDCROSS to 90999 and chip in $10.

But if you don't live there, or know someone personally who does, why should you pretend to care? [/bitchface lizzy]

I'll tell you why...

I was borne in bama but, thank GOD, moved to OKC in 1971 at the age of 20.

The 1st college football game I ever went to was the '71 OU-neb. game. I was hooked on Sooner Football from then on.

OU & bama only had their respective football teams to cheer about for so many years! Nothing else!

Two of my sons were Sooner borne & Sooner bred...I wasn't, but when I die...I'll BE SOONER DEAD!

Except for bamas' claim to so many damn many 'mnc', there IS a great deal of mutual 'respect' for each others team.

Thank you OKLAHOMA SOONERS for your even caring about bama and these tornados...when I lived there, '71 to '85, I don't remember any bama fans that were concerned about Oklahoma & MY SOONERS when we, I, went through them!

I'M PROUD TO BE A SOONER AND GRATEFUL THAT WE (YA'LL) CARE ENOUGH ABOUT BAMA TO INCLUDE THEM IN OUR SOONER FANS CHAT ROOM!

GOD Bless us all!

SOONER FANS HAVE AGAIN, MADE ME PROUD TO BE A SOONER!!!

Thanks, Sooner fans, for keeping the people of our great state in your thoughts and prayers. Unfortunately, it's beginning to appear that things are MUCH worse than they were originally reported.

Statewide death toll is now at 288, and expected to climb. Over 400 people still unaccounted for in the Tuscaloosa area alone. Cadaver dogs are being brought in. Large portions of Tuscaloosa resemble a war zone, and other communities like Phil Campbell, Sawyerville, Pratt City, and Hackleburg have been completely wiped off the map. It is horrible.

Our state will rebuild, but the landscape that existed before, especially in Tuscaloosa, has been forever altered.

Here is some amazing satellite imagery that shows the path of the tornado as it moved across Tuscaloosa.
