I have no memories of the 1970's. I was stoned, fighting disco and trying hard to avoid the Born Again movement.

OK. I'm dying here. I was raised with two older sisters in the 60's, 70's. This strikes mighty close to home, and it's damn funny. Well done. Ken was no GI Joe...

Anyone else remember the brief urban myth that Mattel was going to introduce 'anatomically correct' Barbies and Kens?
I remember the moms in my neighborhood being in an uproar for about a week until it was revealed to have been a spoof.
Ah, good times!

****, what the hell were you all thinking back then? It's like everyone wanted to be terrible looking carpet.

A short history:

North Western Europeans came to North America in numbers in the early 17th century.
They then spent the next 300 odd years building a nation and amassing more wealth than had ever been seen on the planet.
By the early 20th century, mere citizens of the USA lived better than Kings and Queens had only a generation earlier. (Yes, the slaves and indians had paid a mighty price, but don't get in the way of my narative.)
Then morons burned up the whole shooting match in a long party. This was 'The 60's'.
My generation was close enough to the 60's people that we get lumped in with them. But we didn't get to go to the party.
That sucked.
Then, just as we came of age, the 60's people screwed us once again by overreacting to their drug crazed party by turning to weird religion(s) and disco.
Plus they bogarted the coke something fierce.
Is it any wonder that, when they started having children, they continued their atavistic hatred of those younger than themselves by dressing them in costumes that would surely bring down ridicule?

And no, I'm not bitter to have been a teenager in the 1970's. It prepared me for punk rock.

C&CDean
4/29/2011, 02:27 PM
I was a teenager in the 70's and I never saw that **** on anybody except golfers and discovites. Us normal folks wore normal clothes.

Whitesnake was on Palladia the other night. Still rockin'.

I forgot that Tommy Aldridge (former Black Oak Arkansas drummer) drums for them. That boy is damn near 60 I think and he still gets after it.

I heard them live somewhere a while back. I remember thinking they sounded better than many if their contemporaries.

I suppose I should go to Rocklahoma, since I had kids, I don't do much of that.

AOL Radio allows you six song skips per session. I reserve them for Whitesnake. And Squeeze. I thought "Tempted" was a terrible song. That's before I heard "Black Coffee in Bed."

That depends. Pricetag looks just like a Ken doll down there. He's very sensitive about it. He's afraid he'll be banished to Texas with the other eunuchs.
