Finally!

Ball State, huh?

Being in Houston, I like the fact that we split up Baylor and A&M as far as home and away.
We get one or the other down here every year.
However, I do hate the back-to-back away games to finish the season.

About the only part I don't like about this is that we have to go to Pokedom again. But, thy Pokedom come, thy Pokedom done and then we get the 2012 game instead.

Boomer.....

Home against both Tech and A&M

We should really be able to run through this schedule.

Our hardest games are probably at Poke, at FSU, and against Texass.

Hello, my name is Utah State and the date is Sept. 4, 2010. You wouldn't look past me to your Florida State matchup next week, would you?

So, who gets the booby prize for worst non-conference matchup?

THE NOMINEES ARE (and don't decide yet - I'll make this Thursday's poll)

Sat, Sep 03 Iowa State Northern Iowa (they're FCS, even if they beat Iowa State in 2007)
Sat, Sep 03 Kansas McNeese State (another FCS)
Sat, Sep 03 Kansas State Eastern Kentucky (once again, FCS)
Sat, Sep 03 Texas Tech Texas State (FCS, but Dennis Franchione's their coach till he inevitably tries to find a better job)
Sat, Sep 10 Kansas Northern Illinois (they won the Humanitarian Bowl over Fresno State last year... probably should take this one off)
Sat, Sep 17 Missouri Western Illinois (sing it with me -- FCS! FCS! FCS!)
Sat, Sep 17 Texas A&M Idaho (6-7 last year)
Sat, Sep 17 Kansas State Kent State (5-7 last year)
Sat, Sep 17 New Mexico Texas Tech (1-11 last year but in Tech's defense, this one's on the road)
Sat, Sep 17 Baylor Stephen F. Austin (more FCS)
Sat, Oct 01 Oklahoma Ball State (2-10 last year)

Did I miss any or should I leave some of these off?

I would have left off OU, KSU, KU and A&M because those schools are playing D1 (or FBS or whatever it's called now) schools. I would also remove Tech vs. Nevada for the same reason.

I am convinced that some FCS teams are better than the most pathetic FBS teams, and that's New Mexico, not Nevada for Tech. :D

Oh yeah, I'm sure that you could make the argument in the poll tomorrow if you were New Mexico's coach and not the incompetent fool who led them to abysmal misery (most recently 1-11 last year) that they would not be such a lackluster opponent. After all, UNM just fired their guy and might hire someone as good as you:P

Don't think I could do it. I'd be stealing all the good recruits from Oklahoma and Texas, and I wouldn't want to do that to the Sooners.

We get back into Dallas at 11:00 am on Sept 24, from the FSU game. Hopefully the game is a night game or 2 at the earliest. I have to be at the game after the game there last year.

and like i said before... this might be the most perfect schedule you can get for OU.

Bye week before Florida State
Ball State before Texas
Mizzou is at home (not the week after texas whoops)
Texas A&M at home
Texas Tech at home
Bye week before Oklahoma State in Stoolwater

honestly, the schedule prlly could not be better

Texas State (formerly Southwest Texas State in San Marcos) is moving up to I-A and joining the WAC with UTSA for the 2012 season. So they are one of the borderline I-AA/I-A teams.

A couple of things:

1. We used to do it quite a bit under Switzer, fwiw.

2. With the elimination of the CCG, I think you'll see more & more OOC "marquee" games later in the year just to keep the conference teams a bit more fresh in the voters minds. A good example of this is next year, as Notre Dame is scheduled to visit Norman on October 27.

Yep, usually these away games are our toughest.

I think if we look back on how we play against OSU and Cincy last year, we should be ok.
