Any injuries there? Carl was saying that the Ternader was a mile wide...

I keep hearing that one person is confirmed dead from that tornado in Tushka.
Just when I thought things were dying down in our area, we got hit with quite a bit of hail and strong winds and less than five minutes after it let up a little they sounded the sirens. I guess a tornado hit a few miles away from where I live according to the reports soon after. Looks like we got lucky at my house once again.

Same here. There's not much funny about a tornado. I hope the missing are found unhurt.

In tornado country do you have to carry tornado insurance or does your homeowners insurance cover it?

okie52
4/15/2011, 09:43 AM
Homeowners has got you covered.

Homeowners has got you covered.

Wow. That's nice. Out here prior to the Northridge earthquake you could get additional earthquake insurance for about $300 a year with a $500 deductible. After the quake and subsequent claims, it is now costing me a total of $2340 a year with deductibles at 15% of the properties values.

Yeah, you are going to pay for your state's risk of earthquakes just like Okies
pay for the risk of hail and tornadoes. Most Homeowner policies in OK have a wind and/or hail deductible that is separate from the regular HO deductibles...in some cases amounting to 1-2% of the coverage. So a $400,000 home could have an $8,000 deductible on wind and/or hail. OK has some of the highest insurance rates on homeowners in the country due to our high claim ratio on wind and hail.

I know a bunch of people around Tushka, I hope they're all okay.

I do kind of hope it took down the tree where the speed trap is, though.

We have like half a week to prepare for hurricanes. Anyone that dies in those are just ignorant.

I miss the change of season in OK (and the people the most) and the weather for the most part is pretty nice up there aside from the wind. I like to golf a lot and that wind up there is brutal.
