If I remember she was part of the Florida Orange Caucus that promoted the Christian Values to the extent that Jim Morrison got busted in Miami.
To avoid the bogus charges he became an ex-patriot, and was soon dead.
Personally I liked The Doors a lot more than Anita Bryant.

On the first part, me. I did.
On the second part, I agree. She was saying all sorts of derogatory things about the "fruits", while promoting oranges.
Not nice to promote hate no matter how big her tits were.

Miss America Runner-up Anita Bryant sux. She probably helped build that monster cross along side I-35 in Edmond. Miss America Jane Jayroe rocks! Jane is a very nice person and progressive in her political and social views, unlike the dinosaur Bryant.

Lenora Bryant carried her baby girl a month past her due date. On March 25, 1940, Anita Jane Bryant did not breathe after she was born in her grandparents' tiny wood-frame house. The doctor couldn't find a pulse and thought she was dead. He laid her on a table and turned his attention to her mother.
Anita's grandfather, John Berry, threatened to kill the doctor if he didn't save the baby, so the doctor dunked her in a pail of ice water. Mother and daughter survived.
“It had to be supernatural breath from the Lord,” Bryant said.This was my favorite part of the DOK article. I honestly cannot imagine how insufferable this woman and her family must be.
