Ronnie Balfour, a redshirt freshman, on the OU wrestling team was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia this week. He is currently in the hospital and has just started chemotherapy on Thursday. My friends who know him say that he is a tremendous guy and needs our help.

Please send prayers, good vibes, click on the Like on the Facebook link.

Ronnie Balfour needs our help...
By: Wayne Bishop • Posted on: 4/6/2011

Ronnie Balfour made himself a champion at Union High School, with a lot of hard work and a little help from his coaches and teammates. Now he needs a lot of help, and from more than coaches and teammates.

Now on the wrestling squad at the University of Oklahoma, Balfour was told by doctors this week that he has acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). He is currently hospitalized, beginning his fight against a foe he never imagined having to face – particularly at such a young age.

He was scheduled to begin chemotherapy Thursday.

This battle for Ronnie will be a long one…and an expensive one. To help offset his medical expenses, the University of Oklahoma wrestling program has established fund and a Facebook page for him. Those who go to that page and click on the “LIKE” button will be getting a $1 donation from OU toward those expenses. In only a few hours Wednesday there were more than 8,000 hits with the “LIKE” response.
