We're one game out of first with A&M's loss at Tech tonight...

I feel muuuuch better about this team now, after a loss, than I did at the point we were undefeated and 16-0.

It's fair to say things haven't felt quite right all season. (Although the recent stretch against Tech and OSU had the feel of the '10 team.)

Two reasons we haven't "clicked" yet: Max White and Cody Reine. They aren't producing at anywhere near the level they did for the better part of last season. Quite frankly, they both look lost at the plate most of the time. (Max more than Cody) Their numbers will say they've been okay, but if you look at their stats against teams not named Oakland, W&M, UAPB, etc, it's staggering how little we've gotten from them.

While we're at it, throw Ellison and Ogle in there as guys who aren't playing up to par, either. I do think the move to leadoff is starting to wake Ogle up, though.

With all that said, i'm still very confident that we'll hit our stride. Golloway's team always, and I don't believe always is too strong a word, hit their stride late in the year. Some teams have higher ceilings than others, but I think we all know where this team can go...

We are alot further out than "1 game from first place". How do you feel better about this team after losing a game on the road in which we scored 0 runs, had 4 errors, and walked Wildcats to homeplate?

Spot on regarding White, Reine, & Ellison. Frankly, I am not a White fan.....he got hot at the end of last year....but he is a traffic wreck defensively....no matter where you put him. His left field circus show vs Clemson in the CWS last year put the nail in our coffin.

Reine was out of his mind at the end of last year....but there was a reason he didn't see the alot of field until later in the year. He did show signs of life against Tech though.....

Ellison has just been off all year long. I agree that Ogle is coming back around. I wouldn't mind seeing Eisenberg, Ross, & Blair get more playing time if for no other reason than to wake up Reine and White.

This is a good hitting club....but I definitely think that they got away with some things batwise last year that aren't holding up this year.

My biggest concern is our inability....thus far.....to win a close game, of consequence, on the road. The Mizzou, KState, & ASU losses show signs of a habit we need to break out of.....and fast.

You're right about being down by more than a game, I thought UT had three losses, not two.

I think everyone got away with some things batwise last year, not just OU.

Why do I feel better? I think we're competing better. We're hitting balls hard in key spots, even if we have nothing to show for it. How about Jordan John last night? He came in with runners on 1st and 3rd and no outs and he put up a zero.
