Used to... Now it's all Chinese sweat shops.

Edit: meaning I used to farm gold and gear to sell on a pretty nice scale but got run out by the Chinese.

It probably is work to them. Back in the very beginning of WoW I would farm stuff and buy and sell on stuff on the auction house, I enjoyed that part if the game as much as the questing. Never sold it for real money though.
