I'm sad for our country that either of them are even in the discussion for POTUS

You and me both.

But you cannot call him a financial wizard. I understand failure in business. But at the same time, success in business doesn't mean you are a financial wizard either.. just got those around you that probably has a better understanding of the finances. ;)

but he's no idiot either

i think in business - to fail is to fail and never try again

the same concept in sales applies - you have to hear 10 "no's" for every 2 "yes's".....and as long as you can make a living - that isnt failure

i can think of a whole bunch of people that would love to have Trump's financial "situation"

Many financially successful people have filed bankruptcy. Henry Ford, Walt Disney, comic book pioneer Stan Lee, Hershey’s Chocolate, Milton Snavely and the founder of Heinz Ketchup, H.J. Heinz, P.T. Barnum Mark Twain and Abe Lincoln just to name a few.

Ronald Reagan didn't market himself to the extreme that Trump does

Reagan didn't waste time commenting on things like Rosie O'Donnell, etc

The left called Reagan a "dumb actor" - probably because they recognized his charisma

Yeah, he's been involved with some weirdness... everything from smack talking Rosie to trying to sue the NFL via the USFL, to naming every building after himself, to being so terribly in debt that it was said that if there were still debtor's prisons, Trump would be in maximum security, to his involvement in Wrestlemania, to his failing casinos.

One thing to his credit though, is that his children seem incredibly grounded, considering how public of a figure their daddy was throughout their childhood, and their dad's womanizing, and growing up in a silvery spoon family with a silver spoon father.

Watch the documentary "Born Rich" sometime - it's a Johnson & Johnson heir interviewing his peers about their inherited wealth. Ivanka Trump is the only one of them that sounds normal.

Okay. Thats not considered a political issue. Political issues would be what is on his platform; things that have to do with running a country.

You felt compelled to start a whole thread dedicated to calling him an idiot. I dont belive you would have done this had he not been showing an interest in running for POTUS; yet, other than the fact that he thinks Obama ought to cough up a birth certificate and saying that he, as many other successful business persons have, filed bankruptcy, it appears as though you don't know enough about him to justify calling him anything with any knowledge.

Trump took ONE casino in Atlantic City through bankruptcy. The casino was not losing money and was not broke. However, they had expanded both the casino and the hotel and had creditors who were unwilling to work with them to get through the cash flow crunch caused by the cost of expansion. When the creditors would not work with him, he took the company into Chapter 11bankruptcy (reorganization). By doing that he was able to force the creditors to be more patient. The company emerged from bankruptcy and still operates at a profit today.

He is an astute businessman, having owned about half the buildings in Manahattan at one time or another, However, it is a lot easier to be successful when you start off with a $100 million trust fund courtesy of your father.

soonerscuba

Really? I could care less if Obama wasn't born here but to compare that the possibility of government UFO conspiracies?Fundamentally there is no difference. What unites conspiracy theories is what I consider an academic laziness, or a willful sort of head bury that makes things easier to process. For example, the idea that 20 crazies figured out a way around our safety and air defenses on 9/11 is far more terrifying than believing the government had a grand conspiracy to further foreign policy aims, so you craft a narrative that makes sense to you, and ignore everything to the contrary.

Obama obviously doesn't want to deal with this anymore; he's had two governors of different parties confirm with the HI health records, he has an announcement in the Honolulu paper, and he meets the criteria of the FEC and State Dept. I'm sure I'm just a mindless sheep to the birthers around here, but frankly, all available evidence overwhelmingly supports the fact that he was born in Hawaii. It's not an absence of proof even, people just don't want to believe that he should be president, and craft their narrative for why that shouldn't be.

I was born in Kansas City, Jefferson Co., MO. The Hospital is torn down and my Mother has passed. There is no way for me to prove that what I'm saying is true except for the certificate I took from a dead man over 38 years ago....:D;)

Missouri must be really backwards then.

Had you been born in OK you can go to vital statistics in OKC and get a copy of your bc.

Fundamentally there is no difference.

Then why doesn't he just produce a certified copy of his birth record rather than the computer generated one? You have one I am sure, as do I, mine has handwriting on it as well as typing. It is yellow with age.

You blame the birthers, but Obummer keeps fueling it.

He is an astute businessman, having owned about half the buildings in Manahattan at one time or another, However, it is a lot easier to be successful when you start off with a $100 million trust fund courtesy of your father.

he actually borrowed the first 6 million from his dad, and paid it back.

But Wisch, the spokesman for the attorney general's office, said state law does not in fact permit the release of "vital records," including an original "record of live birth" — even to the individual whose birth it records.

"It's a Department of Health record and it can't be released to anybody," he said. Nor do state laws have any provision that authorizes such records to be photocopied, Wisch said. If Obama wanted to personally visit the state health department, he would be permitted to inspect his birth record, Wisch said.

"What he got, everybody got," said Fukino. "He put out exactly what everybody gets when they ask for a birth certificate."

A little thing called the Constitution of the United States... That is all.

And what exactly are you going to do about it if he violated the Constitution and why did GWB's Boy give him the Oath of office? LMAO....

The United States Constitution does not explicitly establish the office of Chief Justice, but presupposes its existence with a single reference in Article I, Section 3, Clause 6: "When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside." Nothing more is said in the Constitution regarding the office, including any further distinction between the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the Supreme Court, who are never mentioned as such in the Constitution.

One of the things that would be easier challenged IMO might be someone that had been an Ambassador or had lived abroad.

Finally, one must live in the United States for at least 14 years to be president, in addition to being a natural-born citizen. The Constitution is vague on this point. For example, it does not make clear whether those 14 years need to be consecutive or what the precise definition of residency is. So far, however, this requirement has not been challenged.

Oh don't get me wrong, I am not a birther. I am just saying he could quiet the opposition, but he doesn't.

That being said, I don't know what Hawaii/Obama has or can release as far as a formal document. Me, for instance, I have a Mississippi certified birth record, a copy of the original form that has all the particulars written in and some typed with Dr. signature(s). Obama ain't that far away from my age that it is likely not to have something similar.

But, I also wouldn't be surprised if 20 years down the road we hear that he was really born elsewhere and not in Hawaii.

I am not worried that he is "illegitimate", I am just working hard to see he doesn't get re-elected in the next cycle.

Personnally, I think the issue is probably surrounding his legal name of Barry Sotoero and what name he used in school and to apply for Federal aid and stuff and when he changed his name to Barack Obama...

A whole bunch of us are really hoping we don't get someone worse just because a bunch of folks are unhappy.

Pointing out the same tired BS about him like Trump is doing isn't doing much IMO.

Not to say I didn't imply that, but that is what I meant. A "better" President is not likely to come from the Dem side of the camp, so I will be working from the Repub side of the camp. I'll go independent is there is viability.

Well....yeah....they are going to try and re-elect him. He's already begun that process I believe.

As there is no other party that can get onto the ballot in all 50 states the Republican Party would be the only Party that could possibly put such a Candidate into place. Thus Trump has considered a run for POTUS via the Republican Party.

Having so many folks lining up however was a disadvantage to the Party in 2008 IMO and I think the Republicans need their Party to thin it all down a bit and pretty quick. Let all candidates know that they need to announce soon so the Party can begin to sort out potentials with those they don't consider viable.

Right now IMO....they look pretty messy and unorganized.
