I find it refreshing that his grasp of the game has not progressed! ;)

None of their QBs are looking very good. Gilbert has no excuse really, and the only completions he's had have been on short routes/gimmicky trick plays.

Case has looked the best though if one was to be picked. 7/9 and a TD

Don't kid yourself. A TV network is a huge deal from a recruiting standpoint. It may not matter as much for football but if UT is recruiting a volleyball player and can tell them all their games will be on TV, nobody else will be able to match that.

Don't kid yourself. A TV network is a huge deal from a recruiting standpoint. It may not matter as much for football but if UT is recruiting a volleyball player and can tell them all their games will be on TV, nobody else will be able to match that.

It is all about their football program. Sure they will show their other sports too. But lets get real here for a moment. Volleyball? Seriously? That would be like talking to a gymnast when recruiting at OU. It wont matter if they are on TV or not, how many viewers will actually sit and watch a volleyball game? Not very many compared to the sports of Football, M&W Basketball, and Baseball. They will have a better viewership for swimming than volleyball.

Now then. This network is not going to make much difference anyway. 99% of their football games are already televised in Texas as it is. Who is going to want to pay for that network so they can watch the games that used to be on the major networks for free?

Most of their basketball games were also on TV in Texas. Same question, who is going to want to pay for a subscription so they can watch Texas play when they used to for free? It is not going to be a great thing for them, unless they offer the service for free. And the only way that is going to happen is if they cut the cable and satellite companies a heck of cheap deal to carry their network. (And to be honest, I do not know what their plans are...I damn sure wont watch the Longhorn Network anyway.)

It's not really going to be that big of recruiting tool...because like it or not, they already have some of the finest facilities on the planet for sports. The network wont make that big of a difference.

If Mack is so stubborn to play GG against Rice, I will be fine with a Rice L if it means I never have to see GG the rest of the season except being a cut away talking point for some announcer on the sideline.

Even with all of these coaching changes, Mack is going to fall in to one of his old ways of doing things. Of course GG will start and he'll have some ups & downs but overall will be unimpressive. Then, we'll get murdered against OU and then, and only then, will Mack do something substantial like benching GG.

McCoy completed some ****ing passes, threw no horrible interceptions, and sure as **** didn't fumble off of a one-hand-touch "sack". But yeah, you keep white-knighting Mr. 17 INTs.

All of the QBs looked like **** in a game they were guaranteed to not get hit. Mother of God.

Here's to another meltdown of a season and all the laughs it will bring.

The recruits' parents/families. It's still an advantage to be able to say "most of our games used to be on TV. Now they are ALL on TV. No one else can say that".

I'm not talking about eyeballs or TV ratings. I'm talking about recruiting - primarily for non-football sports. It is an advantage.

Profit sharing! That is why they are worried about it.

Texas already makes the most in sport revenue than any other school in the nation. This will just add to it...and they will not have to share it with the others in the conference.

The network wont be a great recruiting tool, even though they will use it.

The best recruiting tool is what you produce in the field of play.

A lot of Texas guys say little McCoy is not that good.
I have heard that his attitude is diametrically opposed to his brother. Colt has a work ethic and football intelligence similar to Bradford, they were just players who put everything into it...Case doesn't seem to have that, he seems to be inflicted with the "entitlement attitude" Mack spoke so much about last season.

Gilbert is Chris Simms....he evidently had some great talent and a true system that worked well with his skill set at Lake Travis. We all know Greg Davis never seemed to have a "system" other than let Vince (and Colt) run around out there.

Yeah, because let me tell you, people are lining up to watch volleyball, swimming, soccer, etc.

The only way that is going to aid them in recruiting is if they have proof of how many viewers watch those sports...And to be honest with you...most Texas fans are like Sooner fans in one aspect...they are mainly football fans of the school...the rest they could careless about!

another nice one...

McCoy was the most impressive of the group on Sunday. His solid 124 yards and a touchdown on 9-of-11 passing was highlighted by an opening drive with walk-on linemen and capped by a touchdown pass to walk-on receiver Patrick McNamara. All against the No. 1 defense....

You do know it expands further than that, right?

I already have the sports package from my cable provider. If the cable company gets the ****horn network, then my cost will go up.

They do not split them up like...oh, lets just order the Longhorn Network. Nope. they will have to purchase the entire package to get it.

you do realize, that most parents attend most sporting events, in person, that their kids are doing, right?

It may come in handy if they are in Hawaii...but then again, something like that is not picked up in that network...it will be some other network picking up an event like that. So they wouldn't have to pay for it anyway.

CSTV, Fox, and even ESPNU all offer different sporting events through the nation.

Like I said...the only thing it will do is bring more sports to those inside Texas. And it will not aid in recruiting...This isn't like Troy TV or something, where it would help them because they have crappy facilities and are never on TV.

The recruiting aspect will be very minimal.
