This weekend.

I for sure am going to the Salt Lick BBQ on Saturday night. What are some "Must See" attractions?

You will be able to see the Longhorn Stadium the way it looked for the last half of the season...

Find a friend to take you out on Lake Travis to Devil's Cove. Site of the original Girls Gone Wild.

Much fun, though it's still pretty early in the season.

Don't take the wife or girlfriend. ('sandwich to a banquet' type deal)

Go to east 4/5/6th east of I-35 and punch a hipster *********.

Go eat at a tex-mex place on south 1st street between riverside and oltorf.

Go to the ladybird johnson wildflower center, south Mopac.

Go back to 4/5/6th east of I-35 and punch some more hipster *********s.

Why? Stay in Norman, save your money, and have a great time. Traffic, pretentious Texans, expenses...why bother? Unless Lid has set you up with some fine dining or something you're wasting your time.

oasis on lake travis. Great atmosphere, food is ok. But the place is outrageous. I recommend it.

Hang out at the bridge at dusk and watch the bats fly out...

Check out the web site for Diners Drive Ins and Dives off Food Network, some good east off that show.

The Legislature's in session...if you're going during the week you might want to check out the capitol. Just watch out for all the hot air.
And if you head to 6th Street, you'll have to dodge the puke on the sidewalks.
If you want to check out the live music, visit austin360.com (good friend of mine is the editor) - pretty comprehensive listing of venues and restaurants, etc. And if you see a listing for Eric Tessmer while you're there - GO SEE HIM. He is the love child of Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Seriously. The guy is amazing.

I actually really like Austin, if you can't tell. But I always give the finger to the stadium when I pass by. :D

I was there a couple of weekends ago. I stayed at the Hyatt. It was accross the river which is easily walkable over the bridge but cabs are plentiful and cheap.

Ate at 219 West. Really good. Very good actually. Not too expensive.
