Do you have one? My wife interested in them at one point. They just look too small to me and don't seem to get that great MPG.

No but that is one of the options for my wife when we get her a new car in a few months. The mpg is decent and they are very highly rated. They aren't Tahoe big but the aren't small and even have a third row of seats if needed.

Honda!

I doubt I get one, but I was looking at the Honda Ridgelines the other day. Pretty cool that they have a huge built-in ice chest in the bed.

Also was intrigued that those CZ-X's or whatever they are called ar getting 85 miles to the gallon, especially when I had spent $120 on gas that very same day.

My only contribution here is that I hope by "new" you mean "new to you." Buying a car new is a terrible financial decision, period, full stop.

No. I mean "new" as in "I don't want someone else's azz impressions in my driver's seat" new.

get a new seat.

better than paying $50-60k for a rapidly depreciating asset that provides little utility.

$50-60K? Bruce?

I only buy new. Exclusively. I own them for many, many years. When I sell them to one of the cheap ****s on this board at least they're getting a good vehicle.

Used car buyers? Penny pinching Scrooges who think they're getting a deal when they pay $20K for a $30K vehicle - but then find out the dumbass who owned it before them was doing wheelies in the Walmart parking lot with the POS.

New. Support America.

Have you priced a new 1-ton diesel lately?

Anyway....Ill pay for the 1-ton diesel because I need the reliability when I go on the road with the 5th wheel for 30 days at a time. That and I can get my money's worth out of it by owning for +10 years.

As far as a daily driver though I am looking for used and paying cash. Right now I have a 2003 Passat Wagon but looking for a 1980s 4runner or Pathfinder that's in good shape so I can drop a ~3.0~ diesel in and drive it for 15 years.

Acura MDX, but if you have small kids they'll outgrow it in a few years. Overpriced for what you get. A look at me vehicle for the female crowd. No room.

I have. I do. I guess I don't need the pimp cab with the automatic hookers who pop outta the side struts.

You're talking Passats with 1-tons? Weird. Oh? You wanna tow something? Maybe? I'm confused here.

Yes, the MDX is on my short list. Now sell me on it, please.

My mom has had one for 7+ years. Still loves the car as much as the first day we bought it. It's safe, reliable, and has very good pickup for an SUV. Acura is an outstanding company and has fantastic service. You cannot go wrong with the MDX.

It never changes...

Toyota? check
Nissan? check
Honda? check

All the high dollar offshoots? (Acura, Lexus, Infiniti?) check

Never mind. I don't care anymore. Buy whatever POS you want.

I drive the Passat to work.....I drive the 1-ton diesel when I go on vacation.

passat has 120k miles on it, 08 1-ton diesel has 36k miles on it.

BajaOklahoma
3/27/2011, 10:46 PM
I just got an Enclave, the twin to the Acadia. Better gas mileage than the Mustang. Lots of fun features that I am still discovering. I still miss my Mustang though.

Do remember that Toyota just shut down its US factory due to lack of parts from Japan (they closed the factory in Japan). When they do start making parts again, the parts will go to the new vehicles until the manufacturing plants are well supplied. At least, that's the way they have done it in the past. So repairs will be very expensive as parts get fewer and far between.

I have always had Nissan's. I have never had any engine trouble at all with any of them and have kept each and everyone for about 120,000 miles.

I had a 350Z several years ago and it needed it's 4th tranny at 35k. I swore I'd never own another Nissan, then bought the GT-R. I really like Nissan's though, just think I got a bad apple. Really like the Maxima and Armada. Did the Armada get a facelift like the QX?

OUthunder

I plan on owning it a long time. I have owned my current vehicle for almost 12 years. The depreciation isn't going to put me in the poor house and the peace of mind is worth it. I grew up with my family in the auto business and I have more trust in a 40K new than a 30K used.

Looks sporty without being overly feminine.

Gets decent gas mileage for a 300hp engine.

Lots of tech stuff such as blind spot warning, adaptive cruise, electronic flip down entertainment center in 2nd row, voice activated music box that holds over 3000 songs on the hard drive, voice activated navigation.

Heated 1st and 2nd row seats (ventilated as well)

Electronic rear hatch.

Rides very nicely, even in sport mode.

I can fit in the 2nd seat and I'm a big & tall dude.

Very comfortable.

Rated #1 or #2 mid size luxury suv by just about every publication I've researched.

Acura dependability and resale is way above average.

Good luck!

2003 manual 350z's had serious tranny problems. The GT-R's have been reprogrammed to lower the rpm's from 4k to 3k utilizing launch control. I believe the new 2012's have been beefed back up and are now running sub 3 sec 0-60. Thats cookin. They're also running about $95k. Getting up there.

I'm trying hard to get the money together to buy a new New Beetle.
It's in Bethany and is a 2003, but it has less than 100k miles and it looks like it's in great condition.
