Highlights:
- Based on Chris Huston's point system, we're the best in 2 decades outright and arguable for a 3rd.
- Totally smoke any conference competition.
- Tied for second all-time and only behind two-schools who can attribute most of their points to pre-modern era and an arguable east-of-Mississippi-River bias.
Last October, I went back and sifted through all the past Heisman results and came up with a little system to assign each school a point value each time one of its players finished in the top 10 of the Heisman voting.
A first-place finish gets 10 points, a second-place gets 9, a third-place 8, and so on down to 1 point for 10th place.
My hope was to paint a clearer picture of each school’s impact on Heisman history, beyond just listing the schools with the winners.
Now, I’ve updated the rankings to reflect last year’s Heisman vote and here are the highest-scoring programs, with points:
