Damn.

I bet there are at least half a million American's over there. At least it seemed that way every time i've been to Japan on business.

The United States has authorized the first evacuations of Americans out of Japan, taking a tougher stand on the deepening nuclear crisis and warning U.S. citizens to defer all non-essential travel to any part of the country as unpredictable weather and wind conditions risked spreading radioactive contamination.http://www.navytimes.com/news/2011/03/ap-us-to-evacuate-americans-from-japan-031711/

I shocked that Obummer even made a decision...

Well....he did send ships over there and take it pretty seriously?

That might have just been a lucky guess though....

Maybe Barry will take over all the cruise lines and send Princess, Royal Carib and Carnival over to get them all out?

I was shaking my head on that Katrina decision as well. Knee jerk mostly...

The Reagan battlegroup was heading there anyway, just left for deployment a few weeks ago.

Something tells me that this idea would see more success in this instance.

Someone was just telling me that Thai Air ticket prices from Tokyo to Bangkok (with open return date) had gone sky high. Okay, it was more than double the previous fare. I suppose that it is fair because Thai Air would have to fly a completely empty plane to Tokyo of pick up the passengers. I suppose those transitting through Narita aren't affected much. Man, over the years I spent a small portion of my life at that airport and getting drunk at the international terminal bar.
