I don't know if he broke some ncaa rules himself but if he's got his act together I believe would be an interesting hire.

Bruce Pearl. I'm gonna say he won't be back at Tennessee next year.

Pearl is in all sorts of trouble with the NCAA. He probably should be gone at Tennessee next year and maybe the AD also. He is a good coach but more of a handful than Gillispie.

I'm not sure of the exact figure, but I'm betting Stevens has a pretty hefty buyout number. He's signed through the 2022 season.

MichiganSooner

Stevens' buyout is 600-750,000 range.

He sounds like a really stand up person and a would fit what we expect from a Sooner coach. Wikipedia profile is very good and positive. However, I wonder if we could pull him away from Butler, he seems quite happy there.

But at least it was not to a mediocre Tech team.

Some Davids don't make good Goliaths. Some mid-major coaches may do better where they are, VCU, Butler, etc. Some bands are great at the Brady Theater but don't cut it for stadium tours, though occasionally they arise for a playoff run.

So Tech is supposed to announce Gillispie on Wednesday...

Have they made anouther Faustian bargain?

martin, not sure if you are just trying to stir the innerweb pot, but Danny Manning coaching OU hoops is about like Jimmie Johnson or Les Miles coming to coach our football team. Throw up in mouth bad!

Jimmy Johnson coached here during the early 70's. 1970-1972 I believe. So technically that's before the "1980's." :D

Danny and the Miracles... Has a nice ring to it.
