AUBURN JUST ENDED THE 2011 FULMER CUP. Four Auburn football players have been charged with five counts each of first degree robbery, one count each of first degree burglary, and one count each of theft of property in a home invasion that took place early Friday morning in Auburn (http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/2011/3/11/2044724/auburn-football-players-arrested-armed-robbery-home-invasion). The bond for each of them is $511,000. Antonio Goodwin (http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/112870/antonio-goodwin), Kowalski Q. Kitchens, Michael McNeil, and Harrison Mosley are all in legal straits that are, per Glennon Threatt on Finebaum just a few minutes ago, the worst in the legal system shy of actually killing someone.
The minimum sentences in theory for these is somewhere between twenty years and life. Put in the bluntest and most accurate terms possible, the four men involved are in horrendous ****ing trouble if this all stands. They've been kicked off the team, but that's the least of their concerns right now.
The numbers for the single biggest combined team score in the history of the Fulmer Cup follow. (Rules here (http://www.sportsargumentwiki.com/index.php?title=Fulmer_Cup).)
Each robbery count is a felony, and is three points per charge. Reading the police report, each player received five counts of first degree robbery, bringing three points times five charges each for four players to sixty points. Add in the felony burglary charges (one each) for four people at three points, and we're up to 72 points. Four misdemeanor theft of property charges pile on to 76 points total, and that's before we add a single, measly bonus point on top just for the dark humor of throwing only a single bonus point onto a massive heap of Fulmer Cup points. Just look at that widdle bonus point. Eees soooo kewte.
Auburn previously had three points, so the sum total for Auburn in the 2011 Fulmer Cup comes out as 80 points. This marks the second time this week UVA has blown a seemingly insurmountable lead (http://twitter.com/#!/johnmtaylor/statuses/46307438101671936), and sets a record for the Fulmer Cup in terms of team scoring for a single year, much less a single incident. This is the Krakatoa of Fulmer Cup scores; we hope to never see its equal, because we think that involves an entire football team being charged with murder.*
**Something that Auburn could have been charged with following the 2010 SEC Championship Game.***
***No they couldn't have. There wasn't enough left of South Carolina to identify

Now I get it - The SEC over signs because so many of their players end up in prison instead of graduating. The only thing missing from the Fulmer Cup is a recruit ranking of the top classes expected to end up in jail. Chances are the SEC would be tops year in and year out...

How did the players get five counts each for robbery?

I don't see any NCAA rules broken here - they should keep their schollies.

Gawd, I hope they win, an entire football team would have to commit high treason, mass murder and cannibalism to beat that score.

Every time I see Auburn mentioned, I think of Ralph Wiggum.
Mrs. Krabappel and Principal Skinner were in the closet making babies and I saw one of the babies and then the baby looked at me.

Before this, Florida had the most all time points at 52. And it took them 5 years to get that many.

Now, just hypothetically, if you took the Texas house invaders and put them up against the Auburn armed robbers and gave each member of the team a Glock and a pump action .12 gauge shottie...

Who wins?

Being borne in ala-bummer, but thank GOD, spent 15 years in OKC.

During that time, thanks to be a musician, I played many gigs in Norman and I got to meet and develope friendships with many Sooners from '71 thru '85.

Chit guys...auburn wins one MNC every 53 years...get over it!

The all-time totals clearly show the SEC as the conference to beat, with 6 in the top 11. The Big XII could only manage one, Missouri and the next school doesn't show up till 25th place (Iowa State) since the nebbish (12th) and puffs (22nd) left the conference. Whorns (36th) have a narrow lead over the Sooners (42nd), 19-17, with the pokes leading both at 20.

But it's noteworthy that Auburn scored 80 of their 86 in a single incident. I mean, sheeeeeit! the Rape of Nanking only scored 97 points, and it took the Imperial Japanese Army almost three months to get that on the board.

Look out for Penn State (currently in a tie for 6 with a mere 6 points) to move up in the standings thanks to the arrest of four athletes (2 each in football and basketball) who participated in a scuffle at an off-campus apartment. The fight took place the night of Feb. 26. Penn State, like many colleges, tries to rig the schedule so St. Patrick's Day will fall during springbreak but those crafty PSU students have their own celebration known as "State Paddy's Day" so that they can party when they are all in town. I don't know if these charges will be enough to overtake Virginia, but does make 2011 more of a race for second place. Of course, no one is going to challenge Auburn this year . . .
