When did the show start seriously suck *** through a straw? We're talking one of the greatest shows of all time was taken, destroyed, p*ssed on, and sh*t all over.

I have several early seasons and I watch them all the time and it was a BRILLIANT show.

Lisa's Wedding? Homer the Heretic? Krusty gets Kanceled? The Way We Was? Sideshow Bob Roberts? Bart vs. Australia? Lisa the Vegetarian? Two Bad Neighbors? 22 Short Films About Springfield? New Kid on the Block?

That's just scratching the surface.

I stopped watching religiously around Season 13/14. I drop in every now and then and "meh" is all I can think of.

I hate the little idiots who think the new stuff is fine but they started watching in the early 2000s. Do you even know who Lionel Hutz or Troy McClore is?

"Huh? Who are they?"

Sit down sh*t for brains.

I'll side with many Simpsons fans and say that when Mike Scully took over as producer and show runner in Season 9 he started a train wreck that ran the show into the ground.

Also, Phil Hartman can make a little bit of an argument. You can't replace characters he did like that.

Jerry Seinfeld was right to go out on top after 9 seasons. The Simpsons should've done the same.

Much like Saturday Night Live - should have been canned years ago!

The thing is SNL was still funny after being on the air for 20 years

The Simpsons Movie showed us the show can still be funny. However, they did bring in ALLOT of writers who had long since left the show from the older, better days.

For whatever reason I watched SNL the other night. I think a lot of the people on there are hilarious but I can honestly say that I did not crack one smile while watching it.

But going back to the Simpsons....I think Conan O'Brian was a writer for them at one time

yeah, he was

i don't really watch SNL much anymore either, but i do see clips occasionally that are pretty good

Andy Samberg is hilarious

Been in a coma since 1999? ;)

Seriously though, killing off Maude Flanders to gain ratings during sweeps week? Yeah...

Principal Skinner isn't the real Principal Skinner?

It was things like that during the Scully era that really p*ss me off. It seems they really didn't care about the characters or what had been built.

Don't even get me started on them trying to turn Simpsons into a "cartoon show aimed at kids." I mean, leprechaun jockeys. Do I need to say more?

He was a writer until midway through Season 5. One of his most well known episodes is New Kid on the Block.

I think it's the 12-18 rose colored glasses. Whatever happens between the ages of 12-18 is the BEST EVAR, no matter what you are talking about. The best TV, best movies, best sports teams, best porn stars, or whatever, always happens between 12 and 18. Everybody is biased that way.

A few years back when I caught an episode it seemed like they were trying to make it too much like Family Guy with the random cut scenes and stuff.

To be clear, I love the Simpsons....I definitely DVR every new episode, but it's pretty rare that I watch them live anymore. I do think it's been pretty clear for the past several seasons that the writers are at a point where it is hard to write new material for the show anymore. All of the characters are pretty well established at this point, and there isn't much more you can do to develop them anymore.

You can always judge a season by the Tree House of Horror episode. It seems like XII was the last really good one.

Who the **** is Troy McClore?

I know Troy McClure from such episodes as A Fish Called Selma, and such TV series as "Buck Henderson, Union Buster" and "Troy and Company's Summertime Smile Factory
