I know nothing about them. Are they a team we should sweep or are we getting into the part of the season where we are looking to win the weekend series? Do they have any players that we can expect to see move up to the next level after college?

Sooner74
3/7/2011, 04:16 PM
I actually have no clue. I looked up there wins and losses. They are 6-6 and don't seem hit real well. As a team they are batting .280 against teams like Bradley and Louisiana Tech. Their team ERA is 4.19, but it looks like they have a couple of good pitchers who have strong ERAs. One guy is below 1.00 like Rocha, but he is also facing lesser competition.

We shall see.

They won midweek games at Ole Miss and ORU last season, so they aren't completely hapless. I'd still expect three fairly sound victories, though.

We SHOULD be 17-0 going to Tempe.

This is baseball, though, so who knows?

My boss lives in Scottsdale. He follows ASU pretty closely. He says that if OU gets there 17 and 0 they should leave 19 and 0. Just can't let one of these we should beat jump up and be the spoiler.

Get the loss out of the way, better now than during conference play. PLUS, it will give SG reason to get in someone's grill. You don't actually think this team will go 56-0 do ya?

Well being the ultimate Cardinal fan I'd say we're going to win the World Series.

Who knows in reality? We've got the loss of Wainwright and all the hoopla over Pujols going on. I'd have to say Cincy is favored in the division, but we'll be there.

C&CDean
3/11/2011, 08:20 PM
When we were driving home from the game on 77 between Noble and Slaughterville a Chinook from the NG came flying right over us carrying a water bucket. I'd say the fires are pretty dang bad.

If it wasn't for the wind and smoke, I'd have had to call today a solid 9. I really expected a home run derby with the wind, but almost all the homers were pretty much cheap shots (even ours). Nobody just drilled one.

Anyhow, 15-0. It's all good.

FenwayFaithfulSooner
3/11/2011, 08:29 PM
Yea, that first home run hit by Little Rock was a perfect hit. It would of been a routine fly ball on a normal day to Left Field, but the wind was blowing perfectly in that direction when the guy hit it. I thought OU's home runs were hit better than theirs at least.

After the 8th inning I went and joined Lott's Bandana on the left-field berm. If you thought it was bad inside the park, it was 10x worse out there. No clue. They gave no information. They said even last week that he said he felt great. It did sound like he was having trouble locating his pitches. I think it might of been to protect him in case something was wrong.

Toal with a throw out at 2nd. 1-0 ALR Bot 3

Yeah, they change pitchers like they are going out of style.

Texas tied with Brown. They are some winners. It's Greens day again too I believe.

He was pulled. He's not hurt, he needs to pitch like a man. Bottom line.

Unfortunately, that Big 12 losing trend didn't hold in Stillwater. The Ags won for the second straight day against UNM in gut-wrenching fashion, 4-3 in 11. The Lobos have a bad record right now, but their young kids (only one player with more than one letter earned) might be figuring it out by now.

As for the only Big 12 team that matters, it's great to know that they're 16-0 now. :)

No problem. It's a game I love and I wish people enjoyed it for the pureness that comes with baseball. My only wish is for my Astros to win this year. It doesn't look like that will happen.

IS that the truth? I don't see them pulling him so early. Is this exactly what I was calling for a few games ago? Or do they use him on the midweek games?

bufsa
3/12/2011, 07:43 PM
What a croc. After the game he had last week? Didn't Rocha give up a homer in the first yesterday? After he gave up the homer he didn't quit he went after the next batters and got them out "like a man". I guess this means the win streak is more important to SG than he is willing to admit.

Speaking of the Astros. I believe Bill Hall is playing for them this year. I am going to miss him in Boston. That dude filled in nicely for the Red Sox last year at basically any position the team needed him for. Talk about a utility player, I am definantly a fan of his now. He hit and played his position well last year and never complained. I have no idea why Boston traded him.

His stuff was bad and he wasn't pitching aggresively. There's nothing more to the story.

Shore was pitching up in the zone and he was getting hammered in the first inning. It's clear Sunny isn't happy with how they played yesterday and today. He was pulling people today. He also pulled Max for looking at strike 3 with a runner on third with less than one out. Now in Max's defense, the strike zone was all over the place today.

I like Coach Golloways way of thinking. If the players aren't performing, bring someone else in that will. Shore was pitching badly, bring in Overton who is pitching great, no need to let UALR tee off and put OU in a deep hole early. I applaud his coaching.

"Shore was pitching up in the zone and he was getting hammered in the first inning" -- Whether or not SG was right or wrong to pull him he is the coach but a hit a walk a ground out a fly out and a strike out is not really my definition of getting hammered.

The "hit" was a home run and the "fly out" was a line drive to left field. Were you at the game or are you looking at the box score?

I feel very confident in saying we would've lost the game had Shore continued to pitch.

Now, is that why he was pulled? No. He was pulled because he was pitching like a midweek guy. Everyone should expect more, and SG does.

I'd say he's in a battle to keep Overton from taking his spot now.

I'd say he's in a battle to keep from losing Saturday. Overton would move to Sunday.

I guess I was right weeks ago in the Shore thread that everyone jumped on me. He just doesn't have it and I noticed that weeks ago.

Shore will start against Arizona St. This week. He may just a midweek starter from now until the postseason. And that's fine, considering the level of competition we play in the midweek this season: we need a guy there better than most (some?).
