Just dropped my 34 year-old copy of Street Survivors onto my new turntable and put on "I Know a Little".

If you've ever heard any other band try to cover this tune in a bar or anywhere else, you realize:

Dayum, that Miamuh kid could sure nuff play.

Only one of the most successful garage bands ever to hit the big time sheerly on the strength of their innate talent and appeal. In an era before record companies packaged, engineered and bankrolled acts. I don't think such a group could arise today.

Who's Steve Gaines?

Oklahoma boy that played guitar for Lynyrd Skynyrd till he was killed in the plane crash back in 77; also got his sister Cassie and lead singer Ronnie Van Zant and 2 others
