I hear Cam Newton's stock is soaring and Mallet's is dropping through the floor. After his interview today, all of the NFL and media was sure he had a drug problem.

He has about 5 more pages to go before he reaches Jlew's draft thread a few years back. :P

but how long before Jlew makes his prediction of the century again? :d

Sometimes I wonder if jlew posts just to see his post count go up.

He made it 46 picks...

Is STEP not commenting on the draft because he's involved with scouts or something?

Watched some of it....DeMarco posted a much better 40 time than I thought. I think he was listed unofficial at 4.38 but later came in official at 4.41, which was good for top 5 among other RBs....looked pretty good going through the cut and change of direction drills....didn't really do much to wow anybody though. Think he'll be a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

A DT from Oregon St. broke the bench rep record with a ridiculous 49...i think the previous record was 45 or 46.

Saying the single player that had the most impressive performance so far has been Julio Jones....The guy measured and test great in just about every event.

Don't think Beal ran very well from what I've heard. DBs haven't gone yet....I think that is today, so no result on Q. Carter.

There were a number of d-tackles and 300+ pounders that ran better 40s than Beal I think.

Sorry guys....Started back working for a draft service so its a lot of work....some quick notes, thoughts from the scouts, etc:

DeMarco: His time gave the team scouts that like him something to use when wanting to give reasons to pick him...But here is what a Dolphin scout sent: "great speed today, didn't see much of it in game film"...a few more comments like that...IMO, I think he has bumped himself up into the late 2nd..

Jeremy Beal: Beal would have been better off not showing up and waiting til pro day..5.13? Again, when some scouts look at his film, they'll say his 40 doesn't matter, look at this and this...I think he's down to the 5th round now myself after the senior bowl week and the combine..

Kendall Hunter: Good workouts...4.53 40..good cone drills...Some guys have though Hunter would go before Murray, but I thought Murray switched himself with Hunter in draft position after the Senior Bowl.

Cam Newton: I don't care what Mayock thinks, his throwing motion is not good..He is one of those guys that they told him he needs to change it, but now he just can't make a good throw..Buffalo would be idiots to take him at 3

Mallet: Strong arm, Eagles scout told me "He's got Ryan Leaf written all over him" with his demeanor and attitude.

Stephen Paea: 49 reps at 225? that is insane

Colin Kaepernick: I think he could be a good NFL QB for someone...has it all..Like his size, threw the fastest ball there...

The spotter gifted that dude about 12 reps just like he stole about 10 from GK last year.

A month or so ago, I brought up a WR from FT Valley State named Ricardo Lockette who could turn heads at the combine...How about a 4.37 40 and some good drill work....That was my sleeper pick for this draft..

And those of you hoping that Julio Jones would slip down to the Rams? I had thought he would be gone before their pick while a few mocks had him down there that low..Anyway, I think you can forget that after his workout..

I've told the story on here about when I was able to go into the bench room and watch...It was a travesty how some guys were expected to basically do 1 second pauses and not lock out while others where bouncing it off their chest and not extending their arms...its pretty fraudulent but still impressive in that 225 lbs is a lot of wait to do that many reps with a spotter or not

Next year, I'll only have to cover 10 teams instead of 12(if i am still working for these guys), so it will be a little easier to get on here and post some info

ORLY?

That was before the actual workouts at the combine. The draft people were basing that off of the interview or press day or whatever. And this was strictly comparing Mallett with Newton. Newton stayed the course, and said what he was expected to say. Mallett was tripping all over the questions, being sketchy with answers and wouldn't say anything definitive about reports of his drug use. I watched Cam throw during the workouts. He is awful.

Hey STEP, you mentioned that DeMarco would be a late 2nd Rd pick. The only teams that I see that have needs at RB are the Rams, Packers, Falcons, Pats, Saints, Colts, and Giants. Which teams have shown the most interest? I'm personally thinking it would be the Pats, Rams, Colts, and Packers.

I would love it if DM went to the pack. But we've had issues with injuries lately and might be a bit gun shy drafting a guy that has perceived durability concerns. I know he's fine and can handle the load, I'm just sayin'...

Dalton is sharp in the interview...He didn't test out that good, but nobody really expected it..He's a winner though

One head scout said he is "a solid backup who could ascend to a starter one day."
