Maybe the OU baseball players are rather miffed about the overabundance of KU basketball fans in town yesterday and are taking it out on the baseball today.... :D

2/27/2011, 04:55 PM
ah man, they scored..

Good thing for that big lead. Oakland got five in the top of the ninth before it ended up a 19-6 final. All's well that ends well, though.

NP and I only stayed for the first six innings when it was 17-nil. First game of the season to witness. It was fun, but felt bad for the poor Oakland pitcher that got drilled in the first inning. That guy was in pain :(

When Oakland's starter went out due to Eisenberg's line drive, and the guy that came in to relieve started to warm up, I knew it was going to be rough for him.

Also, for all the talk of the Yardbirds ruining the game or embarrassing the university, they weren't really that bad if they were the group that was yelling from the bleachers behind home plate.

ONE tubby tubby. TWO tubby tubby. Meh... that pitcher's uniform really didn't fit him.

Left, right, left, right... meh, as much as Oakland was striking out they probably needed to hear it from someone other than their coaches at that point.

It'd be interesting if OU played out here in Albuquerque this year - just to see how everyone acts. OU is supposed to be out here in 2012.

The thing that makes it interesting is because the Lobos play in a PCL park, and they're staffed by PCL club employees who think they're being put-upon to work a college game. So they rule the hecking with an iron fist, at least if you're a Lobo fan. If you're a visiting fan, you can act however you please.

Heck, I'd be disappointed if OU didn't get heckled some next year (probably means that our guys are stinking up the joint). This year, the Lobos can probably expect to hear it a lot on the road, since they've gone from an NCAA bid to an 0-8 start.

Man, that looked painful, even from the berm. I was betting C11 the guys arm was broken. Any word on how he's doing?

We saw him up close cuz we were sitting in the row behind the Oakland dugout. It looked like he was holding on the inside elbow of his throwing arm. I was trying not to move or see anything, because there was a healthy contingent of angry Oakland fans near the first base line also.

A "healthy contingent of angry Oakland fans?" You are a newsie. They're from freaking Michigan, not Oakland. You could single-handedly whoop all of their asses, with one hand tied behind your back.

Just more proof of the media bias...

hehe, i really had no idea till i googled them that Oakland University was in Meatchicken, not California. Shows how much I know about college baseball... or colleges-named-OU-that-are-not-the-real-OU, hehe.

even if i could kick their arses, i wouldn't have wanted to. the baseball team was doing a good enough job of that on their own.

Sooner74
3/4/2011, 12:58 PM
Seriously, I bet you 90% of people wouldn't have known where Oakland was. It would be like asking a Syracuse student where St. Mary's is. They would probably assume somewhere near St. John's

Fun game. Sucks that the pitcher got hurt. It swelled up and got really red, but the medics didn't take him away. I hope he's ok...

And they should move that university to California just to keep from confusing people. I mean, really, how inconsiderate.

What was the reasoning for having one game at a different location? It doesn't bother me, but seems a bit odd.
