. . . for 2011.

from today's Tom Dienhart article:

Looking into the future. Is it too early to talk 2011 Heisman? Of course not. Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck will be everyone's preseason favorite. But who will be the other legit contenders? Heismanpundit.com, the best Heisman handicapping site on the web, has released its early hot list. Here's my early Heisman Hot Five: 1. Luck; 2. Oklahoma QB Landry Jones; 3. Oregon RB LaMichael James; 4. Boise State QB Kellen Moore; 5. South Carolina RB Marcus Lattimore.

Not surprising at all. He deserves to be mentioned in the Heisman race.

What!? The guy we bitch about all the time? A Heisman candidate?!

But that would mean we're wrong, and spoiled. And THAT can't be.

He could win the Heisman and some OU fans would still want to start Bell. If we play like we are supposed to next season he will at least be in New York.

If Landry plays anything like his last four games last year then we might have to build another statue.

I dunno, according to the reputable list we just saw in another thread, he's not even close to being the best player in the Big12

Just getting an invite would be pretty cool. Oklahoma -- Quarterback U.

I think he's got a real shot. It usually goes to the QB on the team with the best regular season record. Of course the media will be pulling hard for Luck but I think Stanford will return to mediocrity without Harbaugh.

This is as bad as being preseason #1. I hate all the hype.

My prediction: he will be runner up to the Heisman, get mad, and go out and win us a national title, 2000 all over again!

-luck will fall off after stanford loses a couple games (without harbaugh)
-james will be right there all season, imo. if he has 2-3 sub 100yrd games, it'll be tough for him to win it
-no way the heisman voters allow someone from boise to win it.
-south carolina will lose too many games to keep lattimore at the top.

imo, if the race started today, it comes down to landry and james. we win out (1 loss at worst) and landry averages 320-ish per game, he should be right there in december.

Okay.. and so? Every college football player is eligible for the Heisman. LOL

But I would love to see Landry have a great year this fall and win it. Only time will tell.

i think Landry is a mystery.

him starting 3 years and playing 4 is good and bad.

i like the guy, but he kills me sometimes.....he's going to throw that INT once you start to believe......or say to yourself: "Landry is playing pretty well....we are legit..."...."these guys have no business being the game with us....ooops, one play, they are back in it.".

If OU makes the BCS Championship Game, LJ will be a top 3 or 4 vote getter. If he's clearly the key playmaker taking us to the championship game, he'll be top 2.

If the team performs, LJ is in the hunt.

Kellen Moore will enter his 4th year as a starter, which is pretty unusual. No one will ever match Jason White's 6 years :D

An effective running game will help Landry's chances in a big way... but this means an assertive OL. So we'll see...

As for the Boys St media darling, that's the one I figure to be drawing a lot of attention, kinda like Woodson did back in the day... you know, if the media has a sort of group-think mind set of doing something different...

The media is certainly prone to bandwagon behavior and also backing an underdog. But if you've watched Kellen Moore play, you know he is really good. I'm sure other fans would consider LJ getting hype to be the status quo of spotlighting a player one a top rated team regardless of whether he deserves it.

Well, LJ's progression from his RS Fresh season to his Soph season was huge. If he makes those same progressions this year then we are set. I would be happy to see him win the heisman, but a MNC would be much sweeter...... I'm sure he feels the same way.

Case Keenum will be a 6th yr Sr. this upcoming season... Not really that uncommon.

I agree with the first one, but you might want to look at SC's schedule. IF they win the ones they're supposed to win, they MIGHT only lose 2 games. Their sched is not that tough...

I am a big fan of the Rock Band King Crimson, but King Crimson I think your take on Landry is solid if you are talking about the kids first several starts. But the last four games of the season, he had "Best College QB" written all over himself. Landry will win a Heisman, and I have been saying that all along. He is as good of QB as OU has had. He may not do some things as well as others, but he does some things better than others. Interceptions, they all have them, but even those numbers went down. Next year will be his last year in Norman. He will play on Sunday's after that! Then the new "Blake Show" starts!

Then you probably missed the intention of my post (and may want to retract the assertion I am correct :) ). I wish BSU neither well nor ill - and my point was that Kellen Moore is a very good player regardless of the media's reason for covering him. He reminds me of a college version of Drew Brees; more polished than LJ at this point, but without the physical tools.
