I want to be entertained. I want to be mesmerized. I want to look forward to every next page. Sometimes with Clancy's stuff I'll read a couple pages and then go "WTF did I just read?"

I want to be entertained. I want to be mesmerized. I want to look forward to every next page. Sometimes with Clancy's stuff I'll read a couple pages and then go "WTF did I just read?"

Kinda reminds me of my pot smoking days. I'd read a couple pages and then go "huh?"Agreed, his early stuff was very good but the last 12+yrs of his writing just looked like he was just wanting to collect the check and hoped the reader would be consumed by the technology to notice a lack of story.

Sum of all fears was good, along with The Hunt for Red October(I read that book over and over again)and Clear and Present Danger.
Op Center was just about unreadable, horrible even.

Yes it is very technical, but it is a fascinating account of all out war between the U.S. and Soviet Russia.
