OUL, Qaddafi is anti-US, so we as Americans really don't need to hear about it, ok? Else there would have been media coverage bigger than Egypt about it.

After firing on the crowd? I respectfully suggest BEFORE firing on the crowd may have been better timing.

What is more significant is how much they export to the world markets on a daily basis as opposed to how much they directly supply to us because the other markets that get the lion's share of their production will have to find alternative sources elsewhere which cuts into the amount that was earmarked for the U.S markets.

Hard to tell what's going on there with no foreign media in the country. I saw reports yesterday that in the east, the military was defecting and joining the protesters. Not a good sign for Moammar. My guess is he better empty his Swiss bank accounts and get while the gettin's good.

The Communist Party is busy in Madison. Their reception has turned cold in Egypt now that Egyptians are turning to the job of extermination of the Jews. The commies and other socialist/progressives realized they were more welcome in the US.

Libyan Army brass has told its soldiers to join the protesters, according to BBC. If Libya goes, that opens the door for every other government in the middle east except Saudi Arabia to fall. Hopefully this can get us off oil and off supporting totalitarian regimes.

No no no no. Didn't you get the talking points memo today? It's only politically fashionable to support the overthrow of dictators who are friendly to our right-wing government. Gaddafi, even though he has made concessions like giving up WMD programs, is still a friend of Hugo Chavez.

In fact, I would not be surprised in the least if these astroturf protests in Libya are being started by a bunch of teabaggers. You can see the real populism in Egypt and Madison.

Right-wing religious fanatics are all the same if they support politicians the dailykos crowd doesn't like.

But if they're supporting the correct politicians, well, then they're just ordinary people fighting for their rights to be heard.

If the revolutions continue, especially in Libya, prices will skyrocket, which would create an increased incentive to invest in other energy sources etc

Although I am happy for high oil prices, any of these spikes will only be temporary and not enough of a foundation for any long term investments
In alternatertive energy sources. It might, however, spur enough outrage to start offshore drilling again which would be a blessing. Even better if it created
Enough pressure to switch transportation to ng and accelerate nuke development.

I wonder how BP feels. They paid politicians in England and Scotland to release the Lockerbie terrorist (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-12381612), in order to get an oil deal with Qadaffi, and now their plan has gone array.

Don't hope too much....worst case... a major kick in the nutz...

$10 gas...25% unemployment...

We have been on oil for a hundred years and crude will still be a major contributor to our economy for another 20 or 30...

Okie, I think you have lost your mind...

No way in hell will the left allow further development of carbon based fuels...the world will die because of CO2...and sacrificing our economy will be a small price to pay...

But the left don't see it that way....they think they are smarter (The Party of Science) and they will be able to will the country off of enough oil to make us self supporting in 10 years....if not sooner.....

My eternal optimism that logic will eventually govern our energy program is probably misplaced. Maybe the party of science will reveal to us the hidden magic behind their plan.
