I was thinking of a better class of beer, lol. Miller Lite? I don't this so, but a funny article regardless.

Excellent. I wish we could have been Natty Light though.

The Tech Bud Ice Light was the best.

The good thing about the Big 12 staying together is that Iowa State has some pretty creative fans... and Iowa State likes to beat up big name teams that aren't named Oklahoma in the conference.

Ohhhh.... we're gonna FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT for Iowa State...

See? Isn't that such a fun fight song to sing along to? Sounds like it should be a drinking song :P

ISU Fight Song

O we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State,
And may her colors ever fly.
Yes, we will fight with might for Iowa State,
With a will to do or die,
Rah! Rah! Rah!
Loyal sons forever true,
And we will fight the battle through.
And when we hit that line we'll hit it hard ev'ry yard for I. S. U.

Hmm.

Don't wager or even mention it. Follow the link and the page clearly says at the top "A satirical look at a Iowa State athletics and other stuff."

As for if it's the correct fight song, well, here's a video of a certain postgame win celebration:

Iowa State obviously looked to Iowa for their fight song. Silly aggys.

The word is Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,
Let every loyal Iowan sing;

The word is Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,
Until the walls and rafters ring (Rah! Rah!)

Come on and cheer, cheer, cheer, for IOWA
Come on and cheer until you hear the final gun.

The word is Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,
Until the game is won.

Sounds more like Iowa just has a lame song that they sing after they lose to someone they should beat. Instead of Iowa State's awesome song that they sing after they beat someone they should lose to.

Well color me embarrassed and VERY glad you didn't take me up on the wager offer. I guess you learn something new every day. Who knew the little brother in the state of Iowa had the same line as big brother (assume Norman Pride did)?. Thats like the pokies with something along the lines of Boomer Cowboy. Odd and completely unoriginal. I may now have a project for work this afternoon. See who was first............

We're married, and NP's feel-happy song, when it isn't Boomer Sooner, is the Iowa State song. :)

Welcome to the board Saul. Hope you enjoyed the ISU victory videos if you hadn't seen em before. It's fun when other teams get embarrassed at the hands of our conference's little brother schools :D

EDIT: Just listened to the Iowa fight song. It sounds too bass-drum heavy, like anything that the A&M band does, hehe. Plus, Iowa really hasn't had any signature wins lately, so no reason to do an a capella version like ISU's football team did :)

Nope, those clowns have a completely different tune for post game. Enjoy (although since I am computer illiterate today, it will probably just be a link).

Thanks for the welcome Badger. I am VERY embarrassed. Heck, to make matters worse, my brother was a scholarship athlete at Iowa State and I had no idea those were their words. I could hum the song but obviuosly couldn't sing it. haha Should have just taken Mark Twains advice and kept my mouth shut. I guess I will just have to default back to the fact that, although I live in Iowa, my hawkeye friends outnumber my cyclone friends 10-1 at least.

As for the celebrations, LOVE them. Rhodes is a heck of a coach, just has quite an uphill battle at ISU.

NP,
No matter what, I get a bit nervous when I hear that song. In all the years I have gone to see OU play in Ames, there have been a couple times where it was too close for comfort. The band plays that song the crowd starts getting in to in and my peaceful afternoon football watch becomes more nerve wracking. I always wish I would never hear it at all. haha

It was Gene's last year there I think and Sammie's first as a starter that ISU was actually ahead for awhile... in 2007, when we were either a Tech and CU win away from a national title game berth. The melting down here during that game was epic, even though we eventually won. I guess Gene decided that OU would be his sig win that season, because they sucked the rest of the year

I've always liked OU and Texas gives me a massive headache.

This should been the beer representing the whorns, on name alone:

However, this is one seriously awesome beer, unlike all the pee-water mentioned above. Phenomenal and potent.

Each bottle comes with this taunt:

Revised.
OU--Coors--nationally known and respected except by Bud fans
Tx--Budwieser--loved and known by many, gives the rest of us a headache
aTm--Bud Select--watered down **** with hint of Bud original flavor
Ok st--Corona, terrible on its own, needs help from an outside source such as lime to be average
TxTech--Tecate, effective? somewhat. If you can handle that annoying aftertaste
Mizzou--Miller light--not great yet not horrible just kinda there in the fridge
KU--High life--Beer drinkers don't care about champagne just like the big 12 doesn't care about bball.
KState--Keystone--used to be pretty good..back when you were in HS
Iowa state--Fosters--Mocked in it's own country
Baylor--O'douls--pretending to belong

Iowa and ISU's fight songs were written by the same guy. when there is only like 100 people in the state, it's slim pickens trying to a find a guy that can write music I guess

Here's how I would rack 'em:

Spaten or Michelob - OU
Shiner Bock - TAMU
Lone Star - UT
Corona - TTU
O'Doules - BU
Miller Light - OSU

Coors Light -CU
Blue Moon - KU
Red Stripe - NU
Bud - MU
Grain Belt - ISU
Fat Tire - KSU

My version:

Oklahoma - Miller High Life: a classic beer. For many growing up, they defined their arenas. Popularity has waxed and waned, but the brands remain strong, and they show no sign of going away. Both are familiar with champagne.

Oklahoma State - PBR: kicking around for many years, though never becoming one of the big players. Suddenly, a niche interest (Pickens, hipsters) comes around, infuses the brand with hype and cash, and now, you can't get away from it. Blue collar, yet style over substance. Paradoxical.

Texas - Heineken: there is a vast national perception that this is a top-flight beer, similar to the perception of the Horns as a perennial powerhouse. Sometimes, both come through, but this usually involves *********s, too much money, and worn-out divorcees.

Texas A&M - Shiner Bock: claims to lots of history and tradition. However, no one seems to remember that both were obscure for decades. Started their resurgence with a flush of cash (Shiner being bought by Gambrinus, A&M's cavalier attitude toward boosters), and had a successful 1990s. Since then, not always on top, but always around.

Baylor - Milwaukee's Best: You convince yourself that this time, it'll be different. You have fond memories from younger days. You think it can't always stay this bad. And then, you're always disappointed

Texas Tech - Four Loko: nothing until a new combination invigorates the product. Huge success comes with national scorn (deaths, lack of defense). Nowhere to go but up, until abusive behavior toward college students takes its toll. Now reformulated, everyone agrees that it's not the same as before

Kansas - Carta Blanca: huge in another area (basketball, Mexico). Never can quite catch on in a saturated market. Many people like it when they try it (2008 season), but always a niche product.

Kansas State - Keystone Light: everyone associated with both of these is a ******. Terrible for decades, both fancy themselves a national powerhouse, though for the wrong reasons (price, JUCOs). Would rather be playing beer pong.

Missouri - Michelob Ultra: both owned by Anheuser-Busch. Lots of success in the mid-2000s, but ultimately light, and unsatisfying. Not exactly sure of itself, is it a niche beer, or a broad market beer?

Iowa State - Stroh's: sometimes you forget they even exist, and for the same reason.

Dearly departed -

Nebraska - Bud Light: an establishment. Best when smooth and cold, worst when warm and aerated.

Colorado - Coors Light: is explanation necessary?
