The great thing about that song isn't the album version, its the live version where Angus Young finishes by tearing down the house on the lead guitar. That is the only version I like, but its pretty awesome.

It's a reference to the salute to the emperor given by Roman gladiators before they began combat in the Colliseum.

I don't know a lot - but everything I do know I learned from metal bands.

AC/DC was singing about gladiators. Got it. ;)
