-4 according to a sign on the way to work.

They are saying Bartlesville had an overnight low of -28 which ties the record low for Chicago. That doesn't even seem possible!

i don't remember it ever being that cold when i lived in OK. from 1936
to 1963. (very possible it was & i just don't remember).

my last 2 winters in OK seemed to be very cold, but probably because i was outside a lot. last winter i lived in bartlesville/dewey & i think it got down below zero. froze my *** off.

my Dad told me a long time ago, that once on my sister's birthday (april 7)
there was a really bad snowstorm & temps around -20. don't know what year he meant, & in fact i really don't believe that to be true. not as late as april 7.
he always worked outside (cable tool driller) so it might've just seemed that cold. don't think people knew about "wind chill" back in the 30s.

of course it only takes about 2 seconds to realize that the wind makes it seem colder.

From TWC website...."The fresh snow pack and arctic air in northeast Oklahoma helped Bartlesville drop all the way to 27 degrees below zero. This ties for the coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of Oklahoma."

So where the hell is Al Gore...

Those are some brutal temps, y'all stay in the house, I'd hate to have a flat tire or some such in that weather. Srsly. You can get in bad shape in a hurry when it's that cold.

And it's about 55 here in Jax. It is raining, if that makes you feel better.

I live 3 miles west in Osage county and totally called BS on the weather people when this was reported.

then I got in my car and drove in to work....and the car thermometer was reading -19 at 8:15 a.m.

So.....
