View Full Version : Best OU athletes - sibling edition
MI Sooner

While I'm sure there are tons of athletes from lesser known sports I'll miss, it struck me that OU has had a number of high-profile sibling athletes. Who are the best in school history? Off the top of my head:
Selmon brothers
Owens brothers
Griffin brothers
Bookout brothers
Paris sisters
I figured that this was brought up before, but I couldn't find anything after a couple searches.

I think it's pretty remarkable that we have several national award winners who had a sibling who was a solid contributor too.

The Schultz brothers are the first brothers in U.S. history to win Olympic titles.

The Lashars. Wish Mr. and Mrs. Lashar had had one of those change-of-life babies, we'd have us a kicker for this year!!
Maybe R.D. or Tim have a son we can look forward to. ;)

What's the name of their restaurant in Ardmore. I drive through there to get to my Mom's house in Tishomingo. I might have to stop and try it.

Reading some of these "lesser known" siblings reminds me of Stacey Kings quote.
I'll always remember this as the night that Michael Jordan and I combined for 70 points.
Said after Michael Jordan scored a career high 69 points and Stacey King scored 1 point against the Cavaliers.

It's called the Prairie Kitchen. The Tabors, like some other Sooner players, originally bought into The Kettle franchises, but I think all of the former Kettles have become Prairie Kitchens.

Which Tabor owns that one? Any idea? Isn't there one of those in Ada as well? We're heading down to Ardmore next month, I may have to stop in and buy some food for an autograph. :D

cool. I have an old picture of Paul and Billy Sims. I had Billy sign it and he said to go to either Ada or Ardmore to get Paul too. I just laughed because I couldn't picture either being in the back cooking it up. :D

+1 You can't do any better than an Olympic Gold medal.
I remember watching them when I was at OU. It was like Dave had ESP. He'd counter an opponent's move seemingly before the guy even started making it.

Lot's of great ones.
If I had to pick two best all-time I'd go with the Selmon and the Shultz brothers.
For those of you that don't remember the Shultz Brothers (Dave and Mark)
Mark: 3 NCAA titles, 2 World Titles, Olympic Gold
Dave: 1 NCAA tile, 1 World Title, Olympic Gold
There is so much more to both of there resume's it almost seems impossible.
