On a college football special today, they had a big interview with Stoops and really hyped us for next year. When looking over the schedule the commentator said, "I don't think the Longwhorns will be ready for what the Sooners bring to Dallas next year." Good stuff

so i guess you get million dollar contracts by going 5-7

and no i don't mean mack brown, i mean the tv contracts

:D :D

as long as we win, we will always be on espn and abc
the end

How they bounce back next year will show a lot about their program. In Stoops' worst two years (8-4 in '05) he followed it up with an 11-win Big 12 title team. Last year's 8-5 team followed up with this year's 12-2 Big 12 title team.

Anyone can have a down year, but how quick they come back is a deeper measurement of the program's character. Granted, 5-7 is a low that I can't relate to. At least not since the Blake years.

Given that 6-6 is the standard to go bowling, that more than half of all FBS teams play in one, it is actually the more difficult feat to not be in a post-season bowl game.

I believe that 2010 will be just a bump in the road for sa*et and Mack Brown but it was fun to watch it unfold once the whorns notched that first loss to UCLA.

The real fallout from 2010 is to make sa*et a wild card going into the 2011 season. No one knows how they will respond to the changes taking place in Austin, whether they will crank out a 10-win season and regain respectability or something less but still better than 5-7.

Will Case McCoy move past Garrett Gilbert on the depth chart or not?

Do the whorns make a real shift on offense to run first and start freshman running back Malcolm Brown this fall to take pressure off whoever is the QB?

Will the defense be as good without Muschamp coaching it?

Every time a texas loss was announced last season, my neighbor and I would chant and dance around the living room.

It was cheap, it was wrong, it was low.

And I enjoyed every score report. Made me feel warm and happy.

So i have a question, what would you do if you lost 5 home games to the likes of Baylor, ISU, and UCLA?

I personally would cry, not visit message boards, and find a new sport to follow to take my mind off the misery. I sure as hell wouldn't say we will be back next year, because fact is, they were bad. Real bad.

Of course Tit's Blake's 1998 OU team had a little better record than last years Texas team. They only lost 6 games. Just thought I'd point that out for ya 'Horn.

From the response out of Austin, it would seem the shell-shocked masses, after coming down from a month-long binger, demanded that most of the assistant coaches be replaced . . .

I don't see how they can get any worse, but they're in a bad spot to be sure. Gilbert, if they stick with him is mediocre at best. If they go with lil McCoy, they kinda have to start all over again. It can work with a qb that has never taken a college snap before (see Sam Bradford), but it's just not the norm. Most of these guys have a learning curve.

Honestly I think they win 2 or 3 more games next season, but certainly not a contender. Yep, 5-7. It couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of glass-housed yahoo fans, who think their squeaky clean image is actually bought by the rest of the nation. Indeed, they suck.
