I'm sure the Napster issue was debated years ago but I'll bring it up again. I'll use an analogy. If I built a private toll road between two cities, would/should I be responsible for the random vehicles that traffic drugs across my highway?

I don't think so. As far as I'm concerned, it's up to the authorities to police drug traffic. I'm merely providing a service to my customers. In some ways Napster fits this profile.

One could argue that tha analogy with Napster would be if I build a private highway in a place that resulted in the primary customer being a drug dealer. I see that argument but the bar should be high.

To go back to Comcast and the net neutrality thread, I don't think it should be the concern of Comcast whether file sharing or illegal porn or whatever crosses their lines. Their goal and responsibility is to provide a connection to the Internet and bandwidth. Unless you can make a strong argument that their service is used primarily for illegal traffic then I would argue that it should not be their concern. By making it their concern, in my eyes Comcast sets a precident that that are in fact responsible for what passes over their network. If I were Comcast I would steer clear of opening that can of worms. (That assumes the legal system worked the way I think it should work.)

Anyway, got way off topic...

Free capitalist societies allow for more freedoms than big government communist regimes have.
