View Full Version : The Pending Winter Storm...

The weathermen in Tulsa will not speculate as to how much or what sort of winter precip we can expect Mon night thru Wed morning... ...they just say it will be "Signifcant"

Are they really that enslaved to their computer models? Why can't/won't they give us a forecast?

But...I did click on my county on the winter storm watch list on KTUL's site, and it said possibly 4-10 inches of snow north of I-40...as long as the darned ice stays away...

Why won't they come out and say it?

I was watching the KJRH weather channel a bit ago and they say ice on Tuesday am then changing over to all heavy snow with blizzard like conditions likely. And on their graph that showed the days, it said 5-8" on Tuesday. Man, it will be entertaining to see how/if they flip flop around on this forecast, I mean they still have 48 hours plus.

thanks for the reply, HSV... I watched the weather on KOTV & KTUL; they were almost carbon-copies of each other. Glad to hear KJRH is at least taking a stand...

Suppose to get the heavy stuff here in northwestern OK Sunday everning, all day Monday....suppose to be some ice below the snow as well....if the weather man is correct this time...could be a bad'n

after sitting through winter weather training for a couple years, yeah anything too specific seems like a total guess at this point :D

Here in Mizzeri, the freezing drizzle/rain will start Sunday night then slowly transform into snow on Tuesday before finally clearing on Wednesday afternoon. It's going to be a fun week....

Oh no!

A large winter storm forecast to unfold could adversely affect more than 100 million people this week from the Rockies to the Plains, South, Midwest and Northeast, if it develops to its full potential.

The latest indications continue to point toward a large storm forming amidst a building temperature contrast over the middle of the nation. Precipitation and strong cold air/warm air circulation around that storm will affect many millions of people from the interior West to the Atlantic Coast as next week progresses.

We are calling this system the Groundhog Day storm, and it will likely severely impact ground travel, and lead to canceled flights, school delays and closures. The storm is not only a concern for Wednesday, but for much of the week as the system moves along.

Marlow got it worse than anyone in the power loss department last year. I was down for 5 days in Elgin but at least the trees in my new development are not big enough to matter.

When people connect global warming to a specific weather event, and not climate, I know I'm going to have to dumb it down a little to relate to them.

I love it when those who live in winter weather climates get all condescending. Face it Flagstaff, you can deal with it because of the army of workers who are out clearing your roads after a big snowfall. Oklahoma doesn't have that.

Last year in D.C. we had three monster storms. I was also in OKC for the Christmas Eve blizzard. While we got more snow in DC there is no comparison. OKC doesn't have the infrastructure to deal with it. It doesn't matter how hardened you are to winter weather.

You'll need it to dig out the end of your driveway after the snowplow driver comes by.

Plus, our snow will probably be gone by the first of next week. You have another 3 months or so before yours is all gone?
