The Rose Bowl will be on Monday, January 2nd, 2012.

If the 1st falls on a Sunday, the Rose Bowl is then played the following Monday.. I did not know that.

Since it's played in the Sugar Bowl this year, 1 week after the Sugar Bowl, a/k/a 1/9/12.
