Gundy coaching fullbacks only? More like fullback.

How about fullbacks and special teams?

can somebody post a resume

If I remember from a previous article:
-OT and Captain at Iowa with Bob
-Grad asst to Hayden Fry for a year, then got accepted to Iowa law.
-Clerk for a district court and then a high-priced lawyer and negotiator
-Became a minister
-Started coaching 7th grade ball because of his kids and then got hired by the high school.
-Wanted to get into college coaching, called Bob for a letter of recommendation but instead was hired to be on-campus recruiter.

I think he will do a great job.

Guy has a great story. Read an article by Carlson before the Bedlam game this year.

I don't know enough about this coach to form an opinion. If Bob thinks he's good, then I am satisfied.

Hard to get excited about this one, but as stated ^^^, if Stoops wants him that settles it for me. I guess I was pretty pumped about J. Hayes coming back.

Where did the rumor of Hayes coming back start? Was it just wanting a special teams coach or did someone claim to have a source?

AFAIK, he expects to be an NFL coach, even if it's not in Cincinnati. I'm sure if he had no other options he would return to college but I don't think it will happen.

Also, J. Hayes had less coaching experience when he was hired at OU (actually none at all, not even GA time) than Kittle does now.

You are going to need to call Bob about that.

Glad he's here.

Next question: as noted in the link, Patton will still be coaching interior OL. Is Stoops going to make him learn how to coach run blocking?

NP was wondering about the o-line coaching situation too... getting duties taken away isn't a vote of confidence

A poster named soonersponge first mentioned it that I saw. I only gave it credibility because I assumed it was the same poster from the OUI board who is an ex player and still apparently close to the team. It could be that he's actually a different poster, or that things fell apart (J. Hayes not wanting to come back would certainly fit the bill) and it just didn't work out.

As I said, if Stoops wants the guy, that's good enough for me.

I think a lot of the J. Hayes rumors were based on the process that Marvin Lewis was going to be unemployed...not getting a contract extension.

Man did I screw up. Looking at his bio, we both went to and coached at the same high school. I went on to sales, he went on to coach at OU. Color me jealous (maybe its his significantly better resume than mine but I sure wish I would have called Bob when I was ready to move on from high school coaching

I like it. He looks like he can Rip your head off and poo down your throat. But the question is does he have SWAGGER? :gary: He looks like he does. Maybe Stoops is trying to push Patton to IU with Wilson.

And the nepotism train down in Norman keeps rollin'. From on campus recruiting coordinator to position coach with absolutely ZERO qualifications outside of having played ball with Bob at Iowa, and having two years as a high school ASSISTANT football coach. Weeeeeeeeeeeee!

OK, I've heard of recruiting coordinator, but not on-campus recruiter. I guess I'm slow, but what does an on-campus recruiter do exactly? Steal kids from other programs (perhaps find a kicker from the soccer team)? Walk the campus looking for potential walk-ons? I'm not knocking the guy, I just don't think I've ever heard of an on-campus recruiter.

I'm guessing an On Campus Recruiter would be responsible for individuals making campus visits. Basically showing them around and making sure no violations occur during the visit.

I'd still rather have read about a good ST Coach hire. :(
