I really thought Texas State was taking a big leap when the WAC made the desperation move to continue being a conference (you need to at least have eight teams I think) but this improves their chances drastically.

Fran Fran sucked at A&M, but he did well at both TCU and Bammer (well, not sure how Bammers feel about him)

I don't think he was in Tuscaloosa long enough to "do well" at bama. I'm pretty sure he never actually unpacked.

He went 13-9 at SWT (1990-91) before he went to New Mexico (1992-97) then onto TCU (1998-2000). They always thought highly of him in San Marcos.

My wife went to grad school there around the same time he was at SWT.
