We should all try and remember all the hype that was made when Bradford and Greshem decided to come back. I was as guilty as the next fan for buying into that hype. One game at a time folks.

I choose to be excited for the entire upcoming season. And, I was in Dallas for the offensive offensive line against BYU.

There was no reason not to be. You can't look at the final record of that particular season and say "man, OU was highly overrated" because that team that was overrated never got a chance to prove itself. Gresham played zero games. Same for 2011...the future looks very bright and there's no reason at this point to think otherwise. If folks start getting booted off the team or getting injured or whatever then we can revisit expectations.

i got on a waiting list for Orange Bowl tickets before the 2004 season started. expectations and got crushed then too...

you get a little jaded after watching us lose 3 of them in person :D

we've all basically been ready for #8 since we got #7 though

Let's just say that there's no way OU loses 5 games with those two guys healthy.

let's just look at it like we did in 2000, ya we might be pretty good, we will see. worked pretty well for us then...just sayin :D

Yeah I saw this earlier. Bama is behind us, although they have holes to fill in the offense. FSU is third on the list at 10/1, so expect that game to be HUGE.

"Other Big 12 teams on the list are Texas (20-1), Texas A&M (35-1),"

Huh? Really? Hey Bodog, can I bet against * finishing above the aggots?

soonercastor
1/13/2011, 06:49 PM
well if they invert it, * will see a lot of action since its a public team.

I never bought into the '09 hype because of the rebuilding O-line and WRs (but I was *really* looking forward to seeing Sam play, sigh). But next year is different as we have a few key players leaving, but no complete units. On the flip side, the '10 team did not finish as an over-powering squad, so it's just speculation we'll take that next step in '11. All indicators are positive.

the site i bet on last year messed up.

It had like T. Pryor 45:1 odds. and Ingram as like 35:1 odds, for Heisman.

I bet big on both and lost.

They left out the decimal points. I cheated a wrong system and lost.

i still say it was a good bet at the time...

well, depending on what "big" was :D

it was!! like 50 bucks on TP 45:1 odds.

50x45 = $2,250 !!!

I told you it was a bad bet at the time. LJ had more yards and TDs than TP so i can never bet on him.

you still don't understand the math part of it, I don't care about talent or stats, it's not about that. The odds were suppose to be 4.5:1 odds, not 45:1 odds.

Lets use an example. Say for 2011, Oklahoma odds to win the Big 12 are 3.5:1 , Which is probably somewhat accurate, (without looking). This website messed up put it at 35:1 odds, for OU to win the 2011 big 12 title.

The odds were too good to refuse.

I would have to say the odds are in our favor to win # 8 if we make it to N.O. I am as cautious as the next person after drinking the koolaide for so many years and then getting dissapointed.

It's better than sipping the orange koolaide and never making it to the championship game. Imagine their disappointment! :stunned:

It wasn't Koolaid. They were bona fide legitimate chances for going all the way. Just bad luck with bad calls and injuries prevented it.

You have to be good to win it all, but you have to have some luck too. The more times we're loaded, the more chances we have to "luck out" and take it all.

yes but you were just considering Pryor. You werent considering that he wasnt even better than Landry Jones or Kellen Moore and he would being going against them at the least. 50$ is a lot to lose. Well to me. Im unemployed :(

He had the right formula tho. A team with a chance to go to the Title, and decent stats.

What I like about these being out right now is that signing day is in FEB. It might help lure some of the recruits we are looking at

My biggest fear is that during the offseason, all the boys are gonna hear is how great they are gonna be. That just doesn't seem to work very well for us!!

Personally, I hate being #1 from the start!!!

So what you are saying is even if the mistake would have been "Terrell Pryor 5,000-1" it would still be a bad bet?

I understand your point and I didn't think Pryor would win either but if you gave me one of the favorites at astronomical odds I would jump on them all day, every day.

OU are favorite but 7/2 basically means they have a less than 1 in 4 chance of winning it (which i think is about right)
