Hmm... he must have been injured this year, because he was Iowa's second leading rusher in 2009, but didn't run once in 2010. I hope he wasn't asked to leave because he can't play well anymore...

Looks like Stoops had other things on his agenda than just watching Iowa beat Mizzou ;)

The guy seems to be pretty good. Not particularly fast, but good with spacing. He would compliment Finch nicely in a diamond formation. We'll have to see what Heupel wants to do though. Also he can catch a screen pass, which is good. I'd like to see some shovel passes up the middle like back in the day :D

Heard this was possible yesterday from about as good of a source as you get have. He was offered, and considered OU out of high school. Don't know the why behind it right now, but supposedly he has a friend down here.

He's been through a lot the past year, so it will be interesting to see how it all pulls together. I've heard he'll be eligible right away, but others are saying he may not, so we'll see.

Not a head case, from what I hear. That Iowa team was in shambles, and he fell into the wrong crowd a bit. Had no baggage coming out of high school.

Jumped on one of their message boards to figure out what this kid's deal is. Didn't really see what it was but a bunch of people in the only thread I read really hate this kid. At least one thinks Stoops will be the next HC at Iowa. And there's a argument between a few users about whether or not OU accepts mediocrity. Those that say we do quote the '90s.

Uummm, we fired 3 HCs trying to find someone that would win. I failed to see how that's acceptance.

I decided it wouldn't be worth digging any deeper on this kid over there. Will just wait until it comes up here.

I hope they show him where the drugstore is and which rack the protection is on. Not sure the running back situation down there but Stoops can find ways to use him in that offense. I think we’ll have much better running backs than him in the lineup next year. He can’t hold a candle in size or speed or power to Coker. He’d be the 3rd back here even with ARob gone.

If his goal is playing time, I don't really see how he came to the decision of OU.

We have 4 guys who are proven quality running backs on the rost already in Miller, Finch, Calhoun, and Clay, plus we are adding the top running back recruit in the nation next year. Maybe Stoops expects a couple of our guys to leave the team?

It looks like we will be well-stocked at RB next year. Look for some of the guys to redshirt and some of the guys to do special teams... thank goodness, we need help on special teams!

I could see Broyles returning kicks again, but some of these RBs that end up lower on the depth chart could get playing time by blocking on kickoffs and punts

Yea, I wouldn't be so quick to assume he's gonna be a non-factor during his time here either...Not saying this guy is gonna be a 1,000 yard rusher, but I don't see why he can't be a complement back to Finch and/or Clay/Miller/Calhoun/Williams/Whoever. so is he gonna be eligible this upcoming season? this thread says he is, but the crimsonandcreammachine.com article said he isnt....

as far as im concerned, we have zero proven running backs at this point. obviously Finch has a world of potential, but he is small and hasnt played a whole lot due to injury. Clay has potential as well, but he hasnt proved anything. Calhoun seems destined to ride the pine forever and Miller, who has also shown flashes, also has proved nothing.

lots of potential. nothing proven. yet.

None of these guys bolded are proven. I think at worst this guy could not play at all and move to FB or DB or somewhere else. At best he's the 2nd or 3rd best back. Only one guy on the roster is really proven. The rest of the backs are average or unproven at best.

Unless it's written in the team rules, it's still no excuse to kick him off the team. Are we certain it was a teammates girlfriend? Too be honest, his past means nothing, because he has a new opportunity to do better. It seems he took himself off the team. That sounds like he was very ashamed, and unhappy with his own behavior.

I have an e-mail into my F-I-L to see what the story with him levaing the program was to determine whether or not he was a headcase or what, but on the field, he is legit. Based on his size, I am not sure where he would defensively, but I have no doubt he could compete fro PT in the backfield.

Just my $0.02 ...

Let me ask you this...Which runningback is he gonna take carries from?

One of the many guys on our team that hasn't proved he can handle a significant amount of carries effectively...duh...

He'll have to seek a waiver to play this year.. but he only practiced on the first day of fall camp..Its possible the waiver will be granted

He's listed on the stat sheet as having 1 carry for 14 yards this season...so I'm not sure how that affects his eligibility next fall.

It didn't look like he was all that big. I don't know if he is built for fullback. I guess he could beef up though.

He's listed at 5'11 206. Now we all know listed heights/weights aren't usually all they're cracked up to be, but that's pretty hefty right there. Those highlights are from his freshman year, correct? Maybe he bulked up during the off-season.

He left for the reasons stated above. Pregnancy, another rumored scare, etc. The Iowa team was in shambles and he got caught up in it, from all accounts.

I actually have family that knows his family well, thus why I have pretty good info (for once) on this one.

He left the team in August. Not sure why it would have stats for him this year.

Man, if he has to sit a year, that would be 2 years without seeing the field. Thats a long time.

I don't know why this guys sex life is a problem with anyone. AD also had a child before leaving OU. In reality, that is the proper function of a penis; to reproduce.

Because we have sooo many proven RBs. Finch is injury prone, Clay got about 50 snaps all year, and Calhoun is out this year. Miller sat last year and I know everyone loves him but he's also proven nothing.

Face it, if this dude could play, he'd probably be 50/50 with finch right away since he's got more TDs to his name than our entire backfield combined.

Any chance the NCAA will grant him a waiver on his transfer year because he didn't play last year and wasn't even on the team?

He did practice with Iowa one time, last August. So it probably cost him his soph. year.

None of these guys bolded are proven. I think at worst this guy could not play at all and move to FB or DB or somewhere else. At best he's the 2nd or 3rd best back. Only one guy on the roster is really proven. The rest of the backs are average or unproven at best.

The three that have been on campus have all played in real games, and performed decently. Who knows whether any of them will be great, but they have all shown that they are capable of performing at this level.

So has Wegher. He's proven it more than anyone but Finch.

Id argue hes proven it more than Finch.

Finch - 8 games. 85 carries for 398 yards. 4.7 APC 2 TDs.
Wegher - 162 carries for 641 yards. 4.0 APC. 8 TDs.

Not to say he's better or worse than anyone we've got, but our RBs are all very young and inexperienced. Finch is the only who's got ANY meaningful carries in games.

Maybe he wants to switch to D. I was reading a iowa forum and one guys said he left because he wanted to switch to safety because he know's that's his best chance in the NFL. But the coaches wouldn't agree. that and the baby making thing.

Then i was reading a article about him in DO and he said if they wanna put him on D he has no problem with it. Said he will play anywhere coaches want him too.

So maybe he wants to play D?

before Lendy Holmes was done at OU, he had 4 kids. I'd see him and his "girl" with the 3 kids walking around the athletic dorm lobby all the time.

Hmmm? lots of iowa fans seem to be saying he's trying to run away from his problems. Hope that's not the case.

First we have to define "run away from his problems".

He is leaving and getting away from Iowa. That's for sure. From what I have heard, he didn't end up wanting to be close because he's gotten on the wrong track. I can completely understand that, because that's how I ended up at OU.

Second of all, having dealt with (and been one) Hawkeye fans all of my life, you have to understand that, similar to Sooner fans, they think the world revolves around them. Therefore, the only reason he'd be leaving is for some bad reason. Again, there have definitely been issues. He needed to get away. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

Remember, Iowa fans are the same fans that, to this day, insist that Bob Stoops only came to OU because Iowa dragged its feet. It couldn't be because there was a TON of talent waiting in Norman and a TON of tradition.

He wants to be a Sooner.......at any position. Think there are several underlying issues with Iowa football right now relating to drugs. Also, OU girls > Iowa girls so he better get a vasectomy or something before he shows up.

Are the recent suspensions nipping it in the bud, or is this much deeper than it would appear. Does Ferentz have a problem with control of his team?

Also, OU girls > Iowa girls...

There are certainly more issues than have been reported. Johnson-Kulianos was running a drug house and MANY of the players were involved, from all accounts. (Rumored that Wegher may have been)

Can't argue with this. My wife would kill me. I had to move down to Oklahoma from Iowa to find a chick hot enough for me! :)

Looks like a good little back. He hits the holes nicely with good vision. Most of that competition in the video (Iowa St, Michigan St, Indiana) probably made him look faster than he really is, but with his size, he could be valuable in short yardage situations. That has been lacking for us. He also looks like a good receiver.
