I use Pandora as my background while writing, researching, and of course checking this place from time to time.

My favorite background music stations are the following in no particular order:

* John Barry Radio
* John Williams Radio
* Paul Cardall Radio
* Howard Shore Radio
* Hans Zimmer Radio
* James Newton Howard Radio
* Michael Giacchino Radio

I'm always up for some new and creative music, and as you see, I'm truly a fan of the new soundtracks.

My question to you all: What Composers am I missing that you would suggest?

I know you won't disappoint!
Thanks in advance, and have a great day!

What are you looking for? More classical? Folk music? Easy listening?

I enjoy:

Jerry Jeff Walker Radio
Willie Nelson Radio
Pink Floyd Radio
Waylon Jennings Radio

I'm not sure why I had to put "Radio" after all of those but noticed the OP did so I just followed his lead.

Not new by any means, but for a little Oklahoma/Americana classical sound, try Chandler, OK's own Roy Harris (just started a channel and it took me straight to Symphony #3) or Copland.

I always like the different sounds that come from Woody Guthrie, Bob Wills, Ray Charles (the soul stations are pretty cool), Miles Davis, 13th Floor Elevators, Morphine, and some other jazz or blues type stations for background music.

But hell, depending on your mood you could type anything from Eric B. and Rakim to The Brian Jonestown Massacre and get some interesting offerings.

You said creative? Try Frank Zappa's classical stuff. I like all his music, but you'll be surprised with his classical writing

Seems like you really like movie scores. About the only one you missed was Bernard Herrmann.

I'll try this station out today. What movies has he composed for?

I also hear there are good composers for games like Call of Duty. I need to research those as well.

You'd probably dig E.S. Posthumous radio.

I like my Megadeth station while I work but, you know, different strokes...

All of Hitchcock's movies from the mid 40s till the mid 60s. Taxi Driver, Twilight Zone theme music, Citizen Kane(probably the best movie ever made), Ghost and Mrs Muir. And about 100 others. Also did all of Orson Welles radio stuff.

If you're looking for newer soundtrack work, Michael Giacchino is one of the best young guys out there right now.

The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Lost, Star Trek, MI:3, several of the Medal of Honor and Call of Duty games, and so on.

One of my favorite soundtracks of the year was from the first season of HBO's Treme. It's not a themed score by one composer, but if you like New Orleans music, it's well done. Don't know if there's a Pandora channel that would equate.

This. Times a brazillion.

The score for the Incredibles drove that film like a race car. The only soundtrack I've ever purchased.

Giacchino's work on Lost is also phenomenal. Especially the pieces "Life and Death", "Locke'd Out Again", "The Constant", and "There's No Place Like Home".

I have a station that plays Muse, Coldplay, Keane, etc.

And another that plays Miike Snow and MGMT mostly.
