Pretty pumped about some of OU's future OOC games. The FSU game next year, three games scheduled with ND, 2 with LSU/Tenn/Ohio State, rematch with TCU. Those are all great OOC games and above the cut for scheduling as far as the rest of the NCAA goes. If you had your pick which school would you like to see scheduled as the next great OOC series?

Mine--Florida

You know that will never happen lol. Well it might actually if Muschamp can loosen up their AD to play out of state non conference teams. I want a home and home w/ USC aka SUC.

We played Hawaii under Berry I believe once. We traveled there.

But yes Hawaii would be great it's about 1/2 between you and me. See you there.:))

Otherwise, Boise St...home home is fine.

SUC is also on my short list...Throw in Allbarn and Arklapig and you have my full attention.
Though Arkiedoosh is more suited for a home and home with Plains Aggie.

I vote Boise St.

Drag them down to Norman in the first week of September and watch 'em melt.

I would like to see:
USC
Michigan
Penn St.

(Mich and PSU because they would be great road trips, to giant stadiums with tradition)

Since Alabama is probably not going to do it again, the only SEC team I would add is Ole Miss. F*** Florida.

I'd be fine with a home and home with Ole Miss. Partly because it would be an easy game for me to get to, and partly because we still owe them some payback for Bob's first Sooner bowl game.

In no particular order:

The U
LSU
tOSU
USC
UO

At the same time, our sister U, would like to continue scheduling:

Any division 2 team
Any team finishing in the bottom 50 of the previous season
Any team that is a directional school (NE Louisiana, SW Missouri State, etc.)

What about michigan and penn state?

But then again, I do want to extract some revenge on Boise St, USuCk, and West Virginia.

Wouldn't mind scheduling another game against the best team in the state of Florida as well, South Florida.

While we are at it, schedule Alabama and Auburn too!

The Schedule (http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/big-12/oklahoma-sooners.php)

The official site, soonersports.com, does not agree re Notre Dame in 2015. (Notre Dame's official site only has future schedules through 2012, and no other scheduling news regarding OU). Your listing is the first I've heard of it, and I think that is doubtful given we are at Tennessee in 2015. Scheduling philosophy is 1 marquee non-conf game each year:

http://www.soonersports.com/ot/future_football_schedules.html

Army worth a mention as a trip to West Point would be awesome.

LSU game not yet confirmed by OU, but was on LSU's official site for 2018 and 2019, according to soonerstats.com.

So did we sign a 2 for 1 with Notre Dame, or do they still owe us an additional home game for us going up there in '99? (2015)

Salt City Sooner
1/13/2011, 07:15 PM
'99 was a 1 game set w/ an agreement for a future home/home. OU got $1 million for the '99 game trip.

Let's go with the Boise style OOC scheduling...make it appear that you're playing a tough OOC schedule by playing middle of the road/above average BCS conference teams. For example, going to Illinois (heh, I'm biased), Northwestern, Cal, Virginia, Rutgers, Ole Miss, Kentucky, etc. Looks decent on the schedule, no $750,000 payment to NW Kansas Tech, and you're probably still going to win the game by a touchdown or two. Helps with strength of schedule, national perception, etc. Boise's model isn't stupid, folks.

As far as "name" programs? Definitely Michigan...sooner rather than later, lol. Wouldn't mind seeing one with Penn St or Georgia either.

gaylordfan1
1/14/2011, 01:40 AM
Have David1 make the call to Bama.... He could easily get 3 home games to 1.... I like those odds, but I like daves MOJO more than anything! :D

Clemson we owe them a beat down for their only MNC.

soonerboy_odanorth
1/14/2011, 02:04 PM
If the LSU series is actually going to happen 2018-2019, and everyone here knows there has been talk about an OOC OU-Nebraska 2 game series for 2020and 2021 (50th anniversary of Game of the Century), I hope everyone recognizes in putting together your wish list on marquee games that you are planning for 2022-2023.

I think where the schedule could be improved as mentioned is to go after some of the bottom feeders of the power conferences... Minnesota, Washington State, Vanderbilt, Virginia, etc.

But if we are going after marquee games... for 2022-2023 give me USC.

Early in the 2000's we did cancel a home and home with Clemson. I'd like to see them back on as well.

soonerboy_odanorth
1/14/2011, 02:07 PM
Clemson we owe them a beat down for their only MNC.

....which was won against Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. But we specifically owe them one for the '88 season Citrus Bowl. I was at that game... not fun watching a hobbled Jamelle and numerous other dinged up players limp around for 4 quarters and then have Clemson fan crow that OU is no big deal.

Each of the service academies. Maybe not the best games but would be nice to honor each of these programs from time to time. Even with a beat down I think they would love to experience Norman on game day.

I would love to see Arkansas, LSU, tOSO, USC and Florida included.

Nebraska took their ball and ran away whining so they need not apply.
