The outline for Sarah Palin's speech: “(1) Flag; (2) That Arizona Thingy; (3) Me; (4) Me; (5) Me; (6) Me; (7) Me; (8) Me; (9) Me; (10) Me; (11) Flag again; and (12) Look like I care about items 1, 2, 11 and 12.” She's like the gal who gets up to give an eulogy at a funeral and uses her time to berate the congregation for taking all the good parking.

1. "Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own. They begin and
end with the criminals who commit them."

2. "Especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and
pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to
incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn."

Which one is it, Ms. Palin, you narcissistic dunderhead?

The "Blood Libel" comment is code for her fans in the evangelical hillbilly community. How she so effortlessly appropriates the persecution of the Jews only underscores what a crazy narcissist she is.

Speaking of......this half-term governor is feeling unjustly blamed for the actions of an extremist. Maybe she can ask Muslims for advice on how to deal with that. ;-)

KC, most Americans have absolutely no knowledge of Europeans using the terrm blood libel in connection with the Jewish Holocaust, especially evangelical hillbillies. And Palin is far from the first to use the term in the last ten years but, judging by the actions of the media and Jewish community, it appears that she is the only one that is anti-Semitic for doing it. The article linked below lists instances of public use going back to 2000.

Winking at the monster

Despite all signs pointing to the Arizona shooter as not being truly politically motivated and more of a mental case than anything else, this incident has set in motion a truly epic debate on the state of our political climate and the rhetoric that has been allowed.

Perhaps only in our current state does a half-term governor unknown to the general populace prior to causing crushing defeat for her running mate and a recovering alcoholic that specializes in fear generation somehow become the unofficial spokespersons for a political party. I refuse to believe that they are the true face of the GOP. Instead, they have learned to flame the fires of paranoia and mistrust in the ranks of the party for their own financial gain. Neither of them would consider running for a national office because they know they would lose and lose hard. By preaching an apocalyptic message on a boogeyman idea that our president is a foreign born racist who wants to take away people's guns, money and religion, they have made for themselves a very tidy little living.

In today's statement, Caribou Barbie created yet another completely intentional firestorm by using the term "blood libel", all in another attempt not to discuss the tragedy or convey sympathies to those affected but to once again pull the spotlight back to herself.

Whether she knew the meaning of the word or had someone write it for her is irrelevant. However, what is very relevant, is the fact that this day was set aside for the victims of the shooting. Apparently, the dimwit from Alaska thought she was one too.

That was a memorial? Looked like a political rally. The crowd chanting, "Obama!, Obama!" Obama standing there waving as he left the stage. The bodies aren't cold yet, and they are slapping Obama 2012 stickers on the caskets. I guess they couldn't let a good tragedy go to waste...not with a chance to get that approval rating up a couple points.

Palin didn't interrupt a funeral....she f'ing responded to a bunch of criticism using facebook or something.

Ok, so that no one has to click a link I'll just give a short summary of the use of 'blood libel' by the media since 2000.

Florida Democrat Peter Deutsch discussing the recount in December 2000

A reporter for the Carolina Journal in September 2003

An article in National Review in September 2004

U.S. News & World Report senior writer Michael Barone in November 2004

Boston Globe, January 2005

Frank Rich, New York Times columnist, October 2006

2008 was a busy year:
National Review, April
Andrew Cohen of CBS News, May
Newsday editor Les Payne, July
The Atlantic Magazine, October
The Washington Post's Eugene Robinson, October

And probably where Palin's camp first heard the phrase(refers to shooting at Ft Hood):

Almost immediately following the aftermath of the shooting, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation was the unlikely voice that called for the safeguard of Muslims in the armed forces.

Within hours of the news breaking, MRFF founder and president Mikey Weinstein called upon President Barack Obama to “immediately issue a statement as Commander-in-Chief making it clear that there would be a zero-tolerance policy against any member of the U.S. military inflicting harassments, retribution or reprisal against an Islamic member of the U.S. military.” …

He criticized former Alaska Governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin for saying that she was “all for” profiling against Muslims.

“We’re not painting all Jews as thieves for Madoff’s economic crimes,” said Weinstein, comparing Palin’s comments to a “blood libel.”

So Palin's name is needlessly dragged into the tragedy in Tucson by all the left-wing haters who so conveniently have forgotten all the hissy-fits, ill-wishing and virtual vitriol from their shameless supporters over the past decade.

And when she does respond (and does so with more decorum and restraint than most would have been able to muster), she's the she-debil for having done so.

I have to ask, what is it about Palin that people hate. I've heard them say she's dumb, idiotic, a neo-con, typical religious right poster child, and most of all they hope she runs for president because it means Obama will destroy her and seal his 2012 win.

Fine, then why are you constantly drooling at any chance to take a shot at her? The character assassination is off the charts.

I'm sure Sarah Palin is a wonderful person. I have no problem with her personally. Quite frankly, I'm not that emotionally attached to any opinion on her.

I suppose the reason why I would express irritation about her is due to the fact that I see style but not substance. She's in the news all of the time, but like Hannity, Olbermann, Maddow, and Beck, she doesn't propose clear solutions. She merely speaks in simplistic terms on what she thinks should be done for the country. She (and every other politician) appeals to a certain population of people instead of finding out whether or not the "view" of the day is supported by research, sound economics, solid principles, and, most importantly, The Constitution of the United State of America.

Don't get me wrong. I believe the voice of the people should be listened to, but in this Republic (not democracy) there is much more to be considered, and I don't see her being someone who does that.

Long story short: She misses the boat regarding issues that are truly salient to our country, and she worries too much about what others are saying about her. If she truly feels the convictions she so loudly presents, then what any opponents say shouldn't matter. If her ideas are so marvelous, then they should transcend petty politics.

Reagan's advice to Bush the 1st is fitting: "Don't let the turkeys get you down."

Palin lets the turkeys get her down, and it is, sort of, sad and embarrassing to watch.

But the thing is that the way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gunsight over our district.

When people do that, they've gotta realize there's consequences to that action.-March 2010, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords

That is a great quote and all and I do like gabby but.... Where is the proof this doode acted because of SP or any other talk show host. I want proof.. Lets say SP was a school of 20 kids doing a meet and greet with the kido's reading them a book. Well some gunman comes in and smokes them all. He does this because he wanted to set records for killing the most people. He even writes about it saying how he wanted to set a record. How much you willing to bet that people in the media instead of blaming the person they blame Sp. They blame her for being to controversial and bringing this on herself. They blame her for the kids deaths and that if she had been silent that the kids might still be alive. That is what is messed up with our society.

It is easier to follow the crowd than have an original thought.

But then again Bush was an Ivy leaguer so who knows.......

here are some waco's writings. He has some about eating people as well.

On April 24, Mr. Loughner titled a new online thread: "Would you hit a Handy Cap Child/ Adult?" He wrote: "This is a very interesting question….There are mental retarded children. They're possessing teachers that are typing for money. This will never stop….The drug addicts need to be weeded out to be more intelligent. The Principle of this is that them c— educators need to stop being pigs."

Later that day, he posted a rant titled "Why Rape," which said women in college enjoyed being raped. "There are Rape victims that are under the influence of a substance. The drinking is leading them to rape. The loneliness will bring you to depression. Being alone for a very long time will inevitably lead you to rape."

His recent online postings are more disturbing. On April 24, he asked: "Would you hit a Handy Cap Child/ Adult?" On May 20 at 12:03 a.m., he remarked: "I bet your hungry....Because i know how to cut a body open and eat you for more then a week. ;-)"

I'm afraid that you are correct in that there are a few biased media outlets who take this as an opportunity to attack rhetorical styles, and in essence, attack people against their political agenda. However, any media outlet that has integrity would show interest in getting to the facts rather than using a tragedy as a chance for political gains.

"This should be an opportunity to raise the nation's collective awareness regarding mental illness and the need for its treatment. It saddens me that this became political instead. President Obama spoke wise words last night: At a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized -- at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who think differently than we do -- it's important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds."--President Obama

There are plenty of issues to debate, argue, and oppose each other on. The context of this tragedy is not the "prudent juncture" for such fights.

Guess which American truly knows the meaning of the word blood libel?

Gabriell Gifford. Know why? Because she's Jewish.

You know who else would know the true meaning of the word? The far left liberal and Jew, Alan Dershowitz. I wonder what his thoughts on the matter are:

The term “blood libel” has taken on a broad metaphorical meaning in public discourse. Although its historical origins were in theologically based false accusations against the Jews and the Jewish People, its current usage is far broader. I myself have used it to describe false accusations against the State of Israel by the Goldstone Report. There is nothing improper and certainly nothing anti-Semitic in Sarah Palin using the term to characterize what she reasonably believes are false accusations that her words or images may have caused a mentally disturbed individual to kill and maim. The fact that two of the victims are Jewish is utterly irrelevant to the propriety of using this widely used term.

I honestly don't think liberals are afraid of Sarah Palin, they think she is a canvas to project the worst parts of neoconservative ideology on, primarily because she can't effectively defend herself from these observations. Normally I would say it's just mean, but at this point she brings it on herself.

I don't think she's interesting whatsoever in terms of policy or governance, but her ability to fundraise and keep herself relevant in the media is pretty remarkable.

The bimbo from Alaska couldn't spell cat if you spotted her the C and the T. She is no match in intelligence for Obama or any other person, who has ever served as president of this nation. She is a one-term governor, who quit when the going got tough. That is hardly presidential timber.

Okie,

I responded to your question a couple of days ago, but I don't know if you saw it. Am I going? I would say 100%. I know where I am going and what I will be doing. I would say I got pretty lucky, but I don't want to post details on the board.

How is your son doing?

Sorry Sapp, I must have missed it.

Take care over there and I hope you can continue to post.

Are you a jerky lover too or would you prefer something else?

Son is doing great as I saw him over Christmas. About to be made Seargent in the next 2 months. He gets out in about a year.

I talked to him more when he was in Iraq than I do when he is at Ft Bliss.

Anybody else just hear Neil Boortz warn the republicans against backing Sarah Palin? Boortz hates Obama more than anyone, but he said after watching Palin's response yesterday and then Obama's, it's clear that Sarah Palin can't handle Obama. I found that interesting.

He's probably right. I caught glimpses of the summer DC rally on TV. I was surprised at the impression I received from what little I saw. I don't watch Beck, but - given the nature of the event - to me he was surprisingly subdued, almost humble in his demeanor. Palin was strident and high-pitched, and the type of speaker that people on both sides usually tire of quickly, imo.

I do like jerky. I don't leave until the summer time, so I bet I will get back up to Oklahoma for a week or so before I go, maybe we can meet up and have lunch. We were up in Perry for 2 days around Christmas. Took the family to Billy Sims BBQ in Edmond. Had a good lunch and a really great time. My son really enjoyed all the old pictures of Billy with the Afro. In fact I ordered one of these shirts for his birthday coming up.

You are correct. As a dem, I would like nothing more than for that c..t to be the gop nominee, but not even republicans are that stupid.

As for McGovern, it really shows how stupid this country can be. McGovern was painted as a coward by Nixon's henchmen. In fact, during WWII, McGovern flew more bombing missions over Germany than any other American pilot. He was never comfortable talking about his military past because of the number of civilians that were killed on his missions. While he was putting his butt on the line in war (by the way he was trained in Tahlequah), Nixon had a cowardly desk job.

Seriously, the only reason I know anything that Sarah Palin has said/written in the past 2 years is reading it on SF.com and it's almost always from someone that hates her. If I see something about her in the paper, I just don't read it. But the KC meltdowns here are too entertaining to pass up.

If you'll remember, though, Musky was the favorite for the nomination and would have given Nixon a much harder time in the general election. Nixon smeared Musky and then McGovern self destructed with his first VP nominee...not that it would have been close anyway.

No, he was very fair. He was a blue book professor. He would write a thesis statement on the board (3 times per semester) and you would begin filling out your blue book. He had graduated from University of Tennessee and had earned his masters and doctorate from LSU. He absolutely loved Andrew Jackson, and everything he stood for. He later went to Arizona State, where he was in charge of the history department, and then retired from teaching to be a mule-skinner on the Grand Canyon.

One friend says Loughner never listened to talk radio or watched the TV news. Throw in "never read books" and you have the dictionary definition of a liberal. Being completely uninformed is precisely how most liberals stay liberal."

Whether it is justified or not, Palin scares moderates. I fear that the Republican base + Tea Partiers won't be enough to beat Prince Obama. The Republican party needs to find someone that stands for the base, but appeals to moderates. That is what Obama was able to do in '08. Obama used his oratory skills to sway the swing vote. Palin would likely drive those voters back to Obama.

If I was a Democrat, I wouldn't underestimate the anger and disappointment that many Americans feel towards this administration, many of whom actually voted for Obama. I still doubt Palin's ability to beat Obama, but I think there are quite a few candidates that could beat Obama. What will be interesting is the role of third parties. Will the Far Left that feels betrayed by Obama support a third party candidate? Will the Tea Party run its own candidate (Palin), if it doesn't like the candidate that gets nominated? Those questions will have a giant impact on the election.

I am not a Democrat, so I don't know what goes on in their party. When I look at what is needed to become president, mainly $150 million dollars, name recognition, and good speech giving skills, only Mitt Romney is the guy who fits those criteria. We were debating in the political thread at OUI.com when the news came out that McCain selected Palin, and when Palin spoke, McCain lost my vote.

If the economy recovers (it seems like it's doing that), then nobody will beat Obama. People have forgotten that when he turns it on, he's hard to stop.

If the economy is not recovering well, then Mitt Romney will have a great chance to win, because he has a business background.

Also, we HAVEN'T EVEN BEGUN to see what the Repub controlled House can do to reverse Obamacare, and other anti-American stuff done to the country '08-'10. Their effectiveness will be very influential in what happens next election. If they are successful in helping the country, they could inadvertently help Beary get re-elected.

The bodies aren't cold yet, and they are slapping Obama 2012 stickers on the caskets. I don't doubt that a conservative woman like Palin will draw more flak from the MSM and, to be sure, Palin has certainly been a target. In fairness to Palin she was probably very unprepared when she was plucked for VP by McCain. They made the decision to exile all of their non-paid members. They reneged on that dumb idea, but by that time, many of us had found our way here and decided this was a better place than someplace which once decided to (and could decide again) to give us the boot.

Also, politics being discussed in the South Oval forum is a plus (they were verboten on OUI).

Also, most of us make less than $150K annually.

Politics weren't forbidden on OUI (O'connells) but it was limited to one thread. We had a lot of posters on that thread but then OUI moved to 247. The board was terrible and many posters had committed to Soonerfans and/or Landthieves.

The board is still terrible at 247. A thread will stay on the 1st page for days because there is so little activity. There are still a few OUI posters on 247 but most are gone now.

Pretty much sums it up.
