NORMAN -- Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray has accepted an invitation to play in the 2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl. The game will be played on Jan. 29 at Mobile, Ala. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m., on the NFL Network.

“DeMarco has been a fun player to watch over the last four years,” Senior Bowl President and CEO Steve Hale said. “His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield makes him a huge threat and we’re expecting him to have a big week here at the Senior Bowl.”

Murray enjoyed a record-breaking senior season for the Sooners en route to becoming a first-team All-Big 12 selection by the AP and Coaches. He finished the year with 1,214 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. He also proved to be a threat out of the backfield, catching 69 passes for 595 yards and five more scores. The three-year starter totaled five 100-yard rushing games and three 100-yard receiving games this year, including a career-high 208 rushing yard effort against Utah State.

The Las Vegas, Nevada native leaves Oklahoma as the school’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards (6,718), touchdowns (65), points (390) and receiving yards by a running back (1,571). He finished his career with 3,685 rushing yards—good enough for sixth on the Sooners’ all-time list.

Tickets for the 2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl are currently available for purchase at the Senior Bowl ticket office (151 Dauphin Street), the Bel Air Mall customer service desk, all area Food For Less locations, select Regions Bank locations, online at www.seniorbowl.com or by calling (251) 432-4109.

Imagine if he'd avoided injuries, even with that causing him to leave a year early. If he can stay healthy, he's going to have a positive impact at the next level.

This game might be worth going to. Would shorten the offseason a bit and would get to see Demarco play again.

Hmmm. That's only about a three hour drive for me. Seriously doubt I'll be doing anything else that weekend, so might have to go check it out.

I have no idea, but he would be an ideal complement to AD if the Vikings ever get a QB or Webb develops quickly.

2nd to 3rd round. If he blows up at the Senior Bowl and has a good combine then you could see him possibly him sneak into the tail end of the 1st round.

His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield is going to secure him a place in the league. I don't think he's a good enough runner to be an every down back, but he is one of the best pass catching RBs I've ever seen, and someone will pick him up as a 3rd down back. Would love to see him in Indy.

How does this stack up with other running backs? That seems pretty damn impressive.

Go get 'em DM7!
