Looks like the Pitt job may be close to being filled and Tulsa may be looking for a new coach. I wonder if any local assistant coaches will have their name thrown in the mix.

Tulsa coach Todd Graham is close to a deal to become Pittsburgh's next coach, a source close to Graham told ESPN's Joe Schad.

Pittsburgh, which reopened its coaching search after firing Mike Haywood just weeks after hiring him, is attempting to meet financial considerations for Graham and his staff, according to the source.

Tulsa went 10-3 this season and beat Hawaii in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

Pittsburgh had hired Haywood from Miami (Ohio) after Dave Wannstedt resigned under pressure. But the university fired Haywood after he was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence in South Bend, Ind.

Tom Bradley of Penn State and Bud Foster of Virginia Tech are among other coaches who have been strongly considered for the job.

I just think his best days are behind him. He did a horrible job at Louisville.

yes he did. but maybe he was right for Tulsa. He certainly was at the time. Don't think you would have to worry about him bailing for another job though. :D

Pitt jumped the gun on forcing Wannstadt out. He was replacing too many key positions this season to make a strong run, even then he had a decent team.

My source at OU just told me that Veneables was seen getting into the Tulsa University corporate Ford Taurus in Norman. He was then seen with two Boosters driving thru Burger King.

Stay tuned...

Poor Tulsa. Really becoming a stepping stone school for football. But, it's tough when you're a tiny D-1 school... the tiniest in college football, as is often repeated on game broadcasts.

It will be interesting to see what they pay Todd -- He actually made more than Whine-sted did at Pitt ($1.3 mil compared with $1 mil per season).

Just because it's kind of fitting - see Rice's tribute here (http://mob.rice.edu/history/scripts/200711240)to "Todd Graham's Inferno," a halftime show they did after Graham bailed on Rice for Tulsa.

Sucks to be Tulsa. I'm just amazed that they continue to get good coaches going through that revolving door.

I saw where Graham got $2,000,000 per vs. Dave's $1,300,000.

in today's DMN, Todd Dodge says he is available, would even consider being a QB coach.

bet he'd be a good one.

Ummmm.... I don't think he made $2 mil at Tulsa annually. I think it was closer to $1.3 mil, compared with Dave's $1 mil.

Graham did sign a 10-year contract with TU back in 2008... yes, the season before TU went 5-9. Guess contract years happen in college too, not just the Neffel

Good riddance. Bye bye. Bring in somebody that wants to be at a quality school with some great local high schools to pull talent from.
