I look for UT to rebound in a big way this next year, predicting a 9-3 finish. But there is an outside chance that they could lapse into mediocrity for an extended time.

If so, a team will naturally rise to take its place as second fiddle to OU in the conference race. OSU and Missouri are the likely candidates, although ATM could if they improve enough.

Of all the teams in a position to assume UT's position as second banana, who would you like that to be? This team would win an occasional conference title (we can't hog them all to ourselves).

For me, OSU. I would be tickled pink if OSU could supplant UT. Yes, they would likely win a conference title here and there, but I'm not anti-Poke like most in here.

Well looking at it most objectively, it would seem that OSU is in the best position to take up that consistent number 2 spot right now. But I really think that it will just be an OU/TX duel for the next 2-3 years until the Big Twen finally breaks up.

Well, if Weeden and Blackmon come back I could see them jump into the #2 spot next season... Seeing that the get a good offensive mind @ OC. I agree that Texas won't be down too long. They will be a legit contender next year with their talent alone, we still have to wait and see if the new coaches can bring them together as a team. Mizzou lost a QB, that can put a team a step behind fast. Not sure about A&M, I can't recall who they have coming back.

OU and A&M see to have the most back next year. I would look for A&M to be our biggest threat next year. I also expect ut to be back strong in 2012.

The personnel cost Texas more than the coaching IMO. If Harsin can get make a meal out of that hodge podge offense, then he is very good.

Of course...if Aggies are really good it'd be REALLY scary to play at Kyle Field every other year.

Texas will be better next year I think, just out of a breath of fresh air and soem new enthusiasm for new guys. They may even get out of the gate quickly...9-3 is pretty reasonable

If you look at talent it will be *. If you looking at coaching UT will be luck to be Bowl eligible next year.

On paper UT is number 1. But the paper is toilet paper and that's best for #2.:D

You would think it would be OSU but it's going to be A&M. Championship football is played on both sides of the ball and they haven't found a consistent way to stop anyone in Stoolwater.

A&M is the growing beast we should be worried about.

who is gonna be the whorns QB, next year? no matter who it is, they are still gonna suck. Gilbert showed nothing to make one think he will be any better next season and I doubt Colt's little brother is the answer, either.

In 6 years OU could be at the bottom...even though I highly doubt it!

But that was not the point of your OP.

If Stoops stays at OU...OU will conitnue to be at the top of the Big 12.

Other than that, I really do not care about the rest of the conference enough to really give an accurate account on the next 6 years.

With that said....

Texas will be back to form in the next couple of years....Muschamp was a distraction on that team (one I wish they would have kept). But they got rid of their true cancer (unfortunately)...Greg Davis.

So do not look for Texas to stay down very long.

Outside of that, it will bounce back and forth...with Okie Lite, Misery, Tech, and A&M fighting for the right to play in the Alamo Bowl year in and year out!
