Why it gotta be the Saints are playing bad? Looks to me like the 'Hawks are playing pretty darn good. It's probably a combination of both. 'Hawks playing over their heads vs defending champs and NOLA not playing real well.

Great opening game of the playoffs. The NFC has some pretty good teams. NOLA to Atlanta are all really good and anyone can win. You make the Super Bowl this year from the NFC and you dang sure earned it.

It is obvious that some players on this team decided that because Seattle was 7-9, that it was ok for them to take the week off. Now is the time to find out who it is and make you that they don't play for the Saints ever again. For Christs sake, I could have put up a better effort than this defense.

Not really. Any team in the NFL can win on any given day, but it doesn't mean they should be rewarded for going 7-9, not when two other teams are 10-6.

You know what? Tough. Division play adds more to rivalries than simply conference play would, and one of the benefits of winning is a guaranteed playoffs spot. Every team has the same opportunity to win in their divisions, not matter the quality of the division. That's what I love about NFL football: a 9-7 team can come seconds away from winning the Super Bowl against a much better opponent (record wise).

I spent the summer of 1985 doing a natural gas distribution survey of the main cantonment area and North Fort Polk which was by then a National Guard training post. One of those summer intern jobs for an MEP firm during school.

I can understand why it was used as the basic training base during the Vietnam era, I heard horror stories from many who went through basic there. My dad had basic in the opposite environment, Fort Carson during winter (1960) which probably served him well being stationed in Germany 10km from the Czech border during the Berlin Crisis.
