Nice! They beat Texas in a 7 on 7 game last spring and no one thought it was a big deal.

I had heard it was pretty much a done deal earlier in the week....his son was the head coach at Blinn JC where Cam Newton played last year, he resigned from there on Monday.

i for one am glad he isn't leaving. he is a heck of a recruiter for us and i am glad he is still a sooner. he had his cynics as a secondary coach, and rightfully so, but i like his as a defensive end coach.

UTSA (with Larry Coker) is joining the WAC as well, I think they should be competitive in a few seasons, who is left in the WAC to go against? SWT and UTSA will be two of the three largest schools in the conference. Most of the name teams (Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada and Hawaii) are leaving for the Mountain West about the time they add SWT, UTSA and Denver.

The 2012 WAC
Idaho
La Tech
New Mexico State
San Jose State
Utah State
Denver
Texas State
UT-San Antonio

Looks to me like they could be competitive in that conference in a hurry.

Franchione hit his apex at Alabama. Every stop before that he elevated the program to new heights: Pittsburg State (KS), TCU, then Alabama. He was accepted there and seemed to have righted a sinking ship.

Then came excessive greed and ambition in the form off tejas aggy. Aside from Bear Bryant, has any coach there gone on to higher success?
